As Vic said KPC, it's not stupid at all, there are many many people out there doing the same every day. I believe the eating is a symptom not the problem so maybe tackling the underlying self esteem issues will help? Such a blase statement and certainly not a short process, but taking the first steps to truly liking yourself is very very worth it. If it helps, my weight is basically the same and yet I am the happiest I have ever been with myself - losing the weight isn't the answer. Good luck honey, thinking of you xx

ETA: completely coincidentally, someone just posted this on another thread I'm on:

'bails, you're lovely; I don't think I have ever heard you sound so happy'

so I guess it must be true! :D:j

I have no idea what triggers the bingeing but I think I am subconsciously sabotaging my weight loss so that I don'[t havet o confront my poor self esteem/body image - if i'm overweight I have justification for feeling bad about myself. how stupid is that?

KPC, I certainly wouldn't consider myself body confident and I'm only mildly happier to have my pic taken these days, etc - but being lighter & smaller has improved my life in just about every way. It has nothing at all to do with how I look, it's about finding renewed energy & how everything in life seems much easier now that I've lost the flab. I wake up happy, never struggle to face the day, feel good because I'm hopefully increasing life expectancy and lowering my risk of certain diseases. Chores and to-do lists don't pile up, I'm more proactive, things get done quicker & smarter, I free up more time for myself, I sleep well.... the benefits go way beyond the visual. I guess what I'm trying to say is you can lose weight and enjoy lots of rewards WITHOUT having to tackle any confidence/appearance issues, if you don't want to :) Obviously it's different for everyone, and my experience seems quite different to Victory's, but that's my perspective :D

BB - have made a note to reply about the 6 meals thingy, I won't forget!

Best of luck this week everyone!!!

    hey guys

after a week on annual leave where the only exercise i did was move my arm to eat and drink, think ive put on 7 lbs :(

anyway, not to worry thats what holiday weeks are for.

im still struggling with eating around 1800 calories and exercising though.

this morning since im back on the wagon i had my shredded wheat with sultanas again

lunch i had 3 tesco light tuna butties (i aint had the 4th one lol)

and i have a low fat yoghurt thing here (100 cals)

and a banana or apple before i go to the gym tonight

and dinner ive no idea - yet.

just not sure how to eat 1800 calories while doing at least 40 mins activity every day........

thats my hurdle, how do i jump it?

I wish I struggled to eat 1800 cals a day Kenny :rotfl:Seriously though I understand this is a real problem for you. Why do you struggle with it in terms of exercise, as in not wanting to be too ful before you do it? How about adopting Missy's 6 meals a day approach? - this is also how I eat and is really great for never getting hungry and also never being really full :T
It was interesting to read your experience post-loss Missy. You're right, there are so many other benefits to your health and energy which - personally - are far more important than the aesthetics. Perhaps that's the way to motivate yourself KPC, by focusing on that side of things? I know being more pro-active and having a much shorter to do lists are great incentives for me, thanks Missy! :T

im fine with my exercise, when i go LOL

its just the eating, i think i was lucky to be hitting 1000 calories a day before exercise

at being 6'2 and 14 and half stone, i am probably starving myself........

but i just cant eat for the sake of eating and i am usually full after each meal,

it is a real problem with me, and one that i cant see the woods for the trees on........... ill have a look at the 6 meal thing a day.

i work in an office so the eating part wouldnt be a problem! lol

Another great week for you FFM! You're still a brilliant example of maintaining. Are you going to re-evaluate your 'maintain' weight? You've mentioned a few times that you don't feel it's as relevant as it was before you were doing so much exercise?

    Thank you :D

I'm really struggling to change my 'maintain' weight, at the back of my mind I have a niggling feeling that if I increase it I will put unnecessary weight back on. Whereas if I leave it where it is, although it is probably not realistic nor achievable at least it keeps me focussed.

So, that's why I'm all talk and no action :rotfl:

Maybe one day, maybe never, who knows?

    FFM :)

reporting a 0.2kg gain this week which is better than i deserved. I'm back on track now, resisted all urges to snack last night so i think i cna keep on top of things now. Whenever I want to eat, i ask myself what i want more, and them find something i can have as free food.
