Today I achieved something that just didn’t seem possible just over a month ago; my weight has gone from 231 lbs! To 210 lbs! So that’s a very encouraging milestone, 21 lbs disappeared with hopefully more to follow, and the best news I am eating really well and denying myself very little.

One of the reasons and there are a number of reasons why my weight was going out of control was ignorance! I had no idea about how we put weight on; I knew nothing about calories at all! So if I fancied something I had it and would eat until I could eat no more. When younger of course I could eat anything, and not put weight on but there again! I had a very active and physical job, and an active lifestyle, so I always burned the calories hence no weight gain.

Another reason for my weight gain was not realizing the right times to have my meals! To start with it was very rare for me to eat breakfast! I would then have a really big lunch, and a big evening meal, and because I had a big lunch I didn’t feel like my evening meal until quite late in the night, as I know now! Not a good idea.

And now one of the reasons for my weight loss! I now have breakfast everyday, a light lunch, and a good evening meal no later than 7pm. Its taken a little getting used to, but now its routine! I am feeling a number of benefits, no longer having a bulging stomach going to bed enables me to have a better nights sleep, and I used to have heartburn but not anymore. By the time I have breakfast I will not have ate for about 15 hours!!! hence the term break the fast or as we know it breakfast.

I am no longer ignorant about calories etc, and reading of other people’s success is very encouraging. I do keep a food log but its on my Iphone tap&track it’s a very useful application! I weigh nearly all my food to make sure I am not overeating, and all seems to be going well and the beauty of controlling your calories is you can eat anything.
Low Carb High Fat is the way forward I lost 80 lbs

Since first using Martins I have saved thousands

Hi Clairefun, welcome aboard! Having read your post it sounds like this might be right up your street! I'm a veggie who's growing my own too (well, not this year as we're moving abroad but last year and when we get back!). Good luck with the weight loss.

hi claire! i'd love to grow my own but don't have time. I'm in a Community supported agriculture scheme which is the next best thing though - i pay a subscription and a nice couple use the money to keep the plot going - i can go up and have a dig about most weekends if i feel like it, and every week i get to go up and get my share of the weeks harvest! It'sthe first year so the harvest may be a bit lean, but it will get better every year and it's all very locak yokel and nice

    Hello and welcome Claire x

Stuck to plan yesterday :j ended up on 1350 cals.
    Todays plan is
Exercise dvd x 50mins with my mum
    B-ready brek
    L- pork & veg
    T - Chicken rice & thai sauce
    loads of fruit

I haven't checked with my mum yet but I think we are going to go to theirs this morning and have a look through old photos of me. Been married nearly 5yrs and Paul hasn't seen them before. I want to see when I got fat, see if that helps with the binge eating.

Have a lovely day one and all x

grrrr. was ambushed by a big bag of maltesers last night. I've recorded it in my food diary though. Thats my new plan of attack - try to be good but if i'm not i HAVE to record it, then it might shame me into behaving myself again. Got some snack a jacks to find they are higher in syns than walkers french fries! so no more snack a jacks for me. off to start work on the decking now, maybe work off some of those maltesers!

Thanks:D I wanted to do it while they were out and then they can take the high jump but OH says good manners etc so I am miffed with him but hey they are not nice people deserve what they get and whether it causes annoyance etc I couldn't care less but OH says it avoids tension etc:rolleyes:

Mums partner now needs a heart bypass op, no news on when:rolleyes:

Sorry victory, have to agree with your OH on this one! Things are already tense with your neighbours so why make the situation any worse than it is already? If they ask why you are putting one up just tell them you are thinking of getting a dog! You don't have to get the dog of course!
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!

Morning all, I decided a few days ago that today would be the day (the 4th for several appropriate reasons) that I would make a renewed commitment to myself to become healthier and lose some weight in the process.

What I find is it is always SOOO much easier to make a commitment to/help others than help myself - even my pets get a better deal than I do!

I don't really need tips on how to lose weight but some reminders of ways to motivate yourself in a kind and loving way would be good. I'm starting at a motivation level of near zero so anything would help :rotfl:

Thanks guys, it's great to know there's a space here with friends who understand xx
