Hey I know what you mean although Billie Joe..... Does that mean we're getting old going for clean cut instead of tattoos
I hope not seeing as OH wants a new tattoo for his Christmas pressie
I've never really been into Billie Joe. I tend to go for the slighter badder boys from the metal bands
But Nick Carter has always been my guilty pleasure. Well, not so guilty pleasure when I was 10 :rotfl:
I dunno. I just think tastes change as time goes by. You better make him get a nice one0 -

I know exactly what you mean victory, sometimes it feels like it's a never-ending procession of letters home from the school asking for money. My DSs school has organised a maths day for after half term where they're getting people in to run workshops throughout the day. The letter from the school was along the lines of: "We've organised this thing, that will be £3 please". No other options given, no indication of what will happen if you dont pay up. It's a small amount but that's not the point; I'm tempted not to pay up just to see what will happen  but then I dont want DS to be singled out, he's sensitive enough as it is ....£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

I don't think a school should be asking parents to pay for maths workshops in the school. You might like to contact the school or one of the governors to ask them what the school policy on charging actually says. Then ask them to discuss at the governing body whether the charging policy needs reviewing. We have, for example, a theatre group coming in tomorrow for our children. The PTA give us a contribution towards this, we don't ask parents for any money. If we have a charity fundraise then we never set an amount, we usually suggest that children should donate from their pocket money or do some chores to earn a little money - and we do stress the little.
The only time we really ask is for school trips whcih are now horribly expensive. Just the cost of a coach can be about £8 per child, with any entrance fees on top of that. Again we ask the PTA to contribute a bit and we pay for some of it directly from the school budget so that the cost to parents is no more than £10 - usually less. It is a challenge now thought with school funding going down ....
SO off topic. Sorry0 -
Hello.
First time posting in this thread but I have been trying to lose weight since June with no success.
In June/July/August I did quite well with exercise, 1 hr nearly everyday on a cross trainer. I was weighed at the start of August which showed I had lost no weight at all so I was disheartened and it went downhill from there. I was weighed again in September and had lost no weight but put none on either. I was weighed again last week and I had put on 2lbs and my nurse recommended I try portion control which I have been trying hard! I did try it before June but was so hungry all the time lol so gave up but its not too bad this time.
I was wondering if someone could look over my food diary (so far) and give me hints/tips or any changes you think I should make?

I am vegetarian so only eat quorn/soy type things like meat. Tonight is the only night I have been full the whole time! I am using a "bowl" for my food rather than plate as ours are really quite big which didnt help with portions and the bowl is just a bit bigger than a small plate so it is helping with not eating too much. Some days I feel Im not getting enough food (like 19th Oct) and I was so hungry that day. Ive cut out sweets totally since June, havent had chocolate for 2 weeks and only crisps because I had them to test for a company so wont be having those again.
Im just not sure what else I can do, and I really really want and need to lose weight!
Any advice greatly appreciated. And sorry if this post is long!Weight loss November 09-January 10: [STRIKE]13lbs[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]20lbs[/STRIKE] 27lbs! :j0 -
GS I do hope yesterdays rant did not offend you:rolleyes: it is just that here at his school the theatre company do ask for a contribution or rather as hezza says you will pay £2.50, then tag day £1 then the shoe box from cubs £2.50 then give us tins, then £2.50 for the school disco (fair enough) then can you contribute towards new projects like the eco friendly outdoor library and the new p.e hockey sticks and on and on,can you bake cakes for the school fairs, it is just like hezza says hardly bank braking but I can honestly say I don't think there is a week that goes by that I don't get a letter home asking for money and they say education is free for all:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
School trips have no probs with, it is just the constant drip drip demanding of money that I don't have a choice to give(as I would never not because my child would be mortified) and am expected to give without questioning whether I want to donate to the shoe box,or sponser a teacher to climb a mountain, or cycle round the corner:rotfl: or whether I want to pay for tag day is besides the point you will and that is that, what happened to freedom of donation?:rotfl:0 -
honey write a food diary everything you drink and eat, add the cals up at the end of the day, portion control is vital, I see you have a lot of carbs in the diet, cut those down, cut out the sugar or to it's bare minimum, eat more veg, less carbs, more fruit, have sugar free based cereals for breakfast such as shreddies, muesli, weetabix, kellogs special k, try skimmed milk if you can saves the cals, low fat spreads like flora extra light, drink loads of water or water and lemon or I drink hot bovril, work out how many cals you are allowed per day and divide those into breakfast, lunch and dinner, try not to snack and if you have to make it fruit or a small salad with cherry tomatoes and cucumber, go for the things that have no points (I am on WW) and lots of veg ha no points and salad stuffs no points, switch all your sauces and dressings to low ones or no points one, make your own foods so you know what is in them, quorn is great love the sausages, buy a better smaller plate, eat slowly, enjoy your food, never force yourself to eat something you don't like it won't work and you will end up resenting it and finding it harder than it is.
Try to exercise, walking is fine, or swimming, it does not have to be the full on gym thing, make sure you keep moving, wear a pedometre for the 10,000 steps a day.
Plan, organize, prepare all the foods in advance so you know what you are having, saves trips to the supermarket, works out cheaper, takes the guess work out of it all and you feel comfortable you know how many cals you are having that day and what you are having.0 -
Hopefully going to have a fairly good day here today! I need to be extra good during the day as going for a meal later before the gig tonight!
Lots of fruit and water I think! :rotfl:
Mega annoyed though. Bon Jovi just announced their tour dates for next year. Every single UK Date is in London. in fact every single European date is in London. I'm sorry but I can't get to London for a show and i'm sure many others can't either.
I really want a choc bar now but as above I'm going to behave!0
