Hello! Haven't weighed myself this week as its TOTM and I know I'll get down. Did get a bit annoyed with myself about my weight loss (not enough quick enough) but OH pointed out that I've lost in total one and a half stone and kept it off. I knew I liked him for a reason. Actually it's coming up for our 20th anniversary and I've got to think of something MSE but nice to do/get him. Any ideas?

Been busy entertaining the kids and feel like I haven't stopped all week! I've been very MSE and bought some outdoor toys in the B&Q sale and we've had water fights in the garden.

Vix I am so envious! I love meerkats, they are my favourite animals! I think meerkat bridemaids would be great KPC. They would look so sweet and hardly any material used! Mind you getting the head dresses on would be a nightmare! Should we ask them for Vix anyway?

Well done to all the losers!
    I would if I could but I can't so I won't!

Urgh! I got woken up at silly o'clock by next door's chickens, and then the neighbour slamming his garage door shut. He may be a policeman, but I'm seriously contemplating doing him some actual bodily harm. So, I gave up with the sleeping thing, as it just wasn't working out.

Eldest son got the results needed (albeit rather on the low side all the same), and is thankfully still able to continue with his A'levels at grammar. A friend's son missed out by 1 mark, but to get his 3 papers remarked to try to recoup that 1 mark will cost £150, which she can't afford. I've suggested they go to a few of the local colleges and check out his options; A'levels might not be the right course for him, whereas something vocational might be. She doesn't cope well with anything negative, but claims he is in 'meltdown', but the opposite is the case. He just wants her to back off and stop being dramatic. She is a pain, so I'd hate it if i were him. He just needs support, not a lecture on how !!!! he is.

So, lack of sleep triggers carb cravings. 4 slices of nimble & marmalade have been of little use, and I still feel a bit crud. Off to do a huge pile of ironing now. At least I've managed to get all the kids out of the house for a while. They are SO ready to go back to school. All getting a bit cranky, and the novelty of being home has worn off, and the ideas for what to do have gone too. The local pool have reduced the amount of time the kids can go for free, so my youngest 2 only get 1.5hrs a day now, which is a pity, because they'd happily swim all day.

Right, must crack on with that ironing. TTFN.

p.s. Granny, Vix has always called me 'Scary', I think she misread it from the start, and it's kinda stuck in her head now, but I don't mind. I generally answer to anything ...
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

  • right, time for a catch up methinks.
victory - that was very sad your tale of your lad's friend. And I think spot on too. And you continue to look for the positives in not being able to find work but valuing your sahm status:T.
Sary - didn't think you were a snob at all re the loud family a few doors up:lack of consideration vis a vis noise drives me mad and it is good to read someone say it how it is - too often we !!!!!foot around in fear on being un pc.
tagz - great to have you back. You have done really well to keep the 1.5 stone off:T. I did a pilates course earlier in the summer and it is deceptively hard work isn't it.

Picked up loads of cooking apples at my mums on monday and promptly left them behind:rolleyes:

beanie - great to have you back from hols too: was it restorative? Great news on your son's exams - one less stress to contend with... now on to the next set!!
loved the crayfish catching evening kpc lol. Those yankee critters need to be dealt with. I love eating cray fish but I am not sure since I seem to ave developed a shell fish allergy whether I can anymore and can never face testing it out.
Granny - thanks for the chart.
Congrats dinah on sotw. Keep up the good work:A
dmv -you've gone quiet. Things ok?

Sary - it is a relief to read that someone else gets the carb cravings when tired. I know you have said it before but it is still helpful to read it again. Makes me feel less weak for succombing! It is too overwheming to resist.
Also, this week I have had a lot of bad cluster headaches and the painkillers & the headache aftermath leave me with the munchies and only sugar/carbs satisfy the exhaustion.
Not doing so well on the food front - keep trying but sabotaged by headaches etc.

Plans this weekend are for a quiet day tomorrow pottering at home, OH working, and then sunday is our annual walk and picnic with a group of friends we made on the course where I met OH which should be lovely.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

sary we opened the curtains this morning to get up and the kids next door (we only can see them now from the upstairs window now the fence is up bliss:D) were both weeing in the garden, charming:rolleyes: so grateful for the fences:D

Feeling very virtuous today, the day started off badly with a trainee diabetic nurse ringing me up, a trainee I ask you:rolleyes: he had no authority to lower/raise my insulin for it to work and past it over to another nurse who wrongly said I should do such and such and when I said no it was not possible to do that, he went back to the other nurse and came back on to apologize and agree with me that could not be done, see at least I was on the ball there:rolleyes: anyway ferrero rocher called me fortunately only ever buy them in the little pack of 3's ate two and gave one to OH, then thought no, not going to go down the binge road, the eat because upset road, the have started so no need to stop road so we all went for a 5 mile bike ride, 2.5 there and back and well chuffed, do you think missy I have managed to cycle the two chocs off?:D

    bb;) you are so lovely

In the oven is the blackberry and apple pie that we have cooked, we picked the blackberries along the bike route, OH says that people forget these days that things can come for free when I said you pay a pretty penny for the amount we got from the supermarkets and he is right, in the old days kids used to pick fruit and bring it home and the parents automatically baked a pie, this one was a jamie oliver one with plenty of sugar, cinammon and ginger I so hate cinammon and ginger so none of it is going to pass my lips.

sary such a shame when so much pressure is put on such young shoulders, we have spent the morning going around builders/timber yards, local shops to see if we can get a part time job for the eldest so far no luck, he really needs his own independent money, he asked me for £15:eek: to go to the cinema, £7.50 for the ticket and the rest for popcorn, sweets and pop, I said no:eek: it is right the kids have too long off school and it is a real fight not to just throw money at the solution to keep them entertained but no, things fun thing like you say tagz a water fight can come for free or cheapish:D

I think school holidays are too short. I need at least another 4 weeks .... ;)

Yep, with a bit over for good luck ;) Even a gentle 5 mile cycle on flat roads should be worth at least 150-200 cals.

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend. My weight's back to normal after a 4lb TOTM gain  Amazing - it would take me months to lose 4lb normally :rotfl:

Hi nm123 and welcome to the thread! :D
