yay beanie! i'm v tired today as i was out till midnight last night - crayfish surveying! A friend of ours is an ecologist and she asked us to go with her so i was up to my waist in meanwood beck with a torch looking for the little snappers. most unusual way to spend an evening but rather fun and all the ones we found were the native ones and healthy too so thats good.

Great to hear the news about your son - and that you had a fab holiday Beanie. What is he doing next year?

Hope your trip is good mazza. Congratualtions on the STS ( and on being, I think, the first person to post a WI this week.)

KPC - how many calories in a crayfish? I'm sure that catching and eating them on a re-enactment would be very authentic. But SSSHHHHHH don't tell your ecologist friend.

I'm logging a 3.75 lb loss this week (so now only 0.25lb over where I was before I went on holiday :j:j)
So Missy was quite right, it did come off quickly. I've never managed to lose a holiday gain so fast - just as well as I'm away next weekend and will surely put some of it back on again. :o

Victory - what happened? Is everything alright?

  • lol granny, if they are the red signals you HAVE to eat them - it's like the red squirrel grey squirrel thing but considerably less fluffy. and with claws. You aren't allowed to introduce a non-native species into the wild, even if you just pulled it out a minute ago. so if you catch a red signal crayfish you are duty bound to eat it! mmm. unfortunately over the course of the evening OH learnt that male crayfish have 's3x grabbers' and is becoming slightly tiresome over the whole business.

I think they'd all go pink if you popped them into boiling water - even their s3x grabbers!

We saw a red squirrel when we were walking in the Eden Valley - excitement out of all proportion to the size of the animal.

Yay beanie. Good news on your son, bad luck about going back to school. One reason why England is better than Scotland :p

Granny: That is amazing, i didnt even see one when i went to the isle of wight :(

Victory: Ive always wanted to go to blackpool! Not sure why but its on the list :p its just too northern for my liking (as in journey time)

I spent the day at Port Lympne with matty. It was great (although expensive) I saw tapirs, zebra, giraffe, monkeys, FED MEERKATS!!, snakes, spiders, lions, tigers, horses, rabbit and other stuff. Its so gorgeous there, proper good wedding venue! I did point this out to matt :p
