  • Been a bit naughty today, had a McDonald's strawberry milkshake even though I knew it has something like 500 calories. Woops.

Sary - I'm chopping off all the bruises, excavating the wriggly things then cooking what's left either with cloves or with blackberries, then freezing what we can't eat. We're having apple on our cereal in the morning, apple for pudding, apple for ..... They're not very nice apples (James Grieve) and not good keepers. Still not letting Mr Granny pick any, just sending him to pick up the fallen ones frequently and laughing when they fall on his bald head. ;)

Thank you KPC I am having a good day, out for a walk with OH, DD and DGD then went to the gym. Can you just leave potaotes in the ground for the following year? I didn't know that. Don't they grow into new potato plants? We're very novice gardeners.

Are you OK now Vix? It could have been the heat maybe. Liverpool has some very up and coming bits -- around the old dock area, Port Sunlight, the galleries - but I wouldn't have said it was any where NEAR Alton Towers. :rotfl::rotfl:

Vanya - one milkshake won't do much damage - so long as you can stop at one and not have the burgers and chips too!

lol granny, your are supposed to dig up all your potatoes, but if you miss a couple they will sprout and grow the next year. I haven't looked after them at al, but got quite a result! I also moved a massive shrub yesterday and it's not dead yet so fingers crossed.

My apples just have no chance with the amount of wasp/bees/insects that eat them, I remember my OH getting thoroughly fed up last year , he had his eye on the lovely large one at the top, that was going to be the one he ate, that did not fall off and get eaten by bugs and one morning he came out to find his hope apple on the floor devoured by insects:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:my wheelie bin is full of them:rolleyes:

Camp victory is working a treat here, no probs so the weight should be off or at least stable for wednesday but on friday it was our anniversary so as a treat I went to M&S for the fish, always looked at their fish but far too costly for my pocket, anyway they have an assortment £12.99 in a black plastic tray of a bit of salmon, prawns, mackerel, etc oh it was sublime, then we got some sushi, every single mouthful was the gift from the gods, it was worth every penny and eaten with utter gusto, fortunately we did not bring it home because my little one loves fish and he would have eaten it all by himself:rotfl: it is def highly recommended the fish from there and then there was a 3 for 2 on their pate/spreads so we got 2 crab and one salmon, the little one had most of the salmon on plain crackers and the OH had the crab, we do like our fish in this house and the M&s fish is def going on the starters for xmas day even though you need to take a loan for it:rotfl:

Talking about weight loss/gain/ not worthy/ etc we went banger racing yesterday and took my eldest son's friend, my eldest is built like a bean pole typical teenager all gangly but his friend is a very big lad, you see it is all about the love, my kids get me after school and all the time really because I have no job and can dedicate large amounts of time to their health etc, this lad's parents work hard both of them and they compensate by giving the lad £20 a day which he spends on chips, choc bars, nuts, take aways as no one is there to cook for him to help him choose the right stuff, he gets teased a lot, kids call him names hurtful ones to his face, he knows he is very large but he carries on eating because 1, H e has not been taught what to eat when to eat it etc and 2, he feels worthless because of all the taunting, this is at the age of 15, ready in the future for high blood pressure, or heart attacks or any health complications if he does not pull himself in which he can't or won't that is up to his parents, he knows he can't run, go to the gym play football like the rest of his teenager friends, he just stands aside, looks pained and has another choc bar.
I have no doubt his parents (he is an only child) love him and think they are doing right by him in their busy lives but they have made him lonely, isolated, different, made him suffer just because they have no time.
I would love to take him away with us for the hols and feed him what we eat so he can realise that he does not have to starve, suffer, eat junk all day long, can re-gain his confidence, get fitter be able to get about more and join in.

Morning everyone and good luck with keeping to plan this week :D

All OK here, I sold the home gym as I mentioned a couple of days ago. I worked out it "cost" me £140 for the two years I had it, so less than £6 a month. Not bad, it did get lots of use until I started doing more outdoor exercise :)

Last week's intake 1746 average cals/day, 1306/day after exercise which consisted of one 6.5km run, 11.4km cycling and 52kms walking :D (10x 5.2km). Bit different to normal!

Sary hope you have a good trip to Liverpool, let us know how you get on. I haven't been for years but Vix, I've always found it a nice city to visit :) I think you might be pleasantly surprised if you went.

500 cal in a milkshake Vanya? Seriously?!!! Try BK next time, I have their cal count leaflet and their large shakes are vanilla 165, choc 247, strawberry 242 & banana 238.
  • well done in selling the gym missy!

We are off to blackpool in a bit so if I get the time will weigh in before we go:D
Just been for a 7 mile walk there and back, lovely it was but my teenager has had enough and is actually asleep:rotfl::rotfl:obviously not used to the outdoors:rotfl:
There is more cals in a macdonalds milk shake, some of them rise as high as 750 cals in just one drink, I never let my boys have them but when I am not there the first they order is a choc milk shake because they know I wouldn't let them, the sugar content in them is something else not to mention the fat and all the artificial colours etc proper junk food yuck, unnecesary:D
