I am a newbie to growing my own. I started with tomatoes in the greenhouse last year. Our old dog enjoyed sneaking in and devouring all the ones at his level. This year I cleared a little patch and started to enjoy myself. I have already found a lot of help from the posts on this site. Last night we ate our first Little Gem lettuce. I am thoroughly chuffed with myself and so glad I found this place.

Welcome! GYO is addictive, great fun and you can eat the produce (usually) :)

We have swiss chard for tea! The ruby one and for the first time I cooked the stems, tied in bundles and steamed for about 15 mins. They were fab :) Plan is to freeze leaves and eat stems. Also have own new pots, red duke of york(with a co-op pork chop) and a bowl of own strawberries each for pud.

Still just lettuce :o and loads of it lol. But it's lovely and a good excuse for a salad!!

Does anyone know how long it takes for pea pods to ripen? We've got quite a few flat pods atm and my son is really excited to try some fesh peas :T

raddishes, lettuce (till, lollo rosso, rocket and "mixed leaves"), a few strawberries, a few peas and broad beans, a few spring onions, couple of (small) courgettes, dill (nice in salad mixed with the lettuce) and loads of rhubarb.
