Several strawberries from the greenhouse (the berries in the outdoor beds are still green/have their flowers), rhubarb, several radishes, 7 garlic bulbs, a few red onions, rocket, spinach.
Thousands of raspberries in the offing, a few more weeks and we'll be troughing those too with the outdoor strawbs. Can't wait.
Birds have pinched the blueberries and cherries before they were anywhere near ripe, the little ****s.0 -

Had a lovely salad tonight made with lettuce leaves (outside ones) some cut and come again, sprouting brocolli leaves, baby beet leaves, chard, nasturtion leaves, spinach and loads of my various types of mints mmmmmmmmmmm.
My basil is almost ready, but the dill is growing like a weed and was lovely with some baked trout.

I love mint. We have garden mint, peppermint, spearmint and pineapple mint at the mo.
You can use peppermint like normal mint, we had some in a salad tonight and some chopped up over buttery new spuds. Nice to chew on in the garden as well lol.
Would love some more ideas as well tho, believe you can make a peppermint tea with it.

I like peppermint tea. Just take the top sprig, pour over your boiling water and leave to steep until it is cool enough to drink.
Do be careful, though, to use a tea strainer or something. I didn't until I almost drank a boiled earwig.0 -
Some lettuce ( Tom Thumb) Rocket, Lemon Balm as an extra in salad , Dandylion ( yes one has it's own little pot) and some mini carrots.
A Peppermint leaf is nice shredded into a green salad.Or look up online the salad called Fattoosh which uses a lot of mint.0 -
Rhubarb and lettuce for me too, also radish and herbs. I've been picking strawberies for two weeks now, 8 1/2 lbs so far + what I eat when up there. Also alpine strawberries but they never reach the house. I think I must have an early variety.
Ate my first 3 raspberries yesterday, but really I like them to come when the strawberries have finished.
Red currents are red and waiting but we don't like those so I leave them for the birds, especially the blackbirds. The bush is at least 40 years old and just produces evey year.
I'm impressed by the courgettes, mine are quite big plants but no sign of any male flowers yet, let alone female flowers or friut. I didn't think I was late planting them out but never have early friutDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -
Just tried some of the goosegog granita that OH made at the weekend. Fantastic!!!
Reminds me a bit of the lime jubblies they used to have in the 60's, only much richer and fruitier.
Just netted up the blackcurrants, hopefully jam, pies and more granita from them in a couple of weeks0 -
I am a newbie to growing my own. I started with tomatoes in the greenhouse last year. Our old dog enjoyed sneaking in and devouring all the ones at his level. This year I cleared a little patch and started to enjoy myself. I have already found a lot of help from the posts on this site. Last night we ate our first Little Gem lettuce. I am thoroughly chuffed with myself and so glad I found this place.0
