All you radish growers - how do you get nice clean radishes without slug bites?. Do you all grow them in containers? All my attempts to grow them in our veg patch are unsuccessful as they get eaten to death.

Waiting for garlic, onions and spring cabbages. Can't wait! And just got an allotment so more veggies to come by the end of the year.

    We've had

Potatoes ( Maris Peer & Charlotte)
Carrots ( 3 different varieties.......The Purple Haze went down well with the kids)
    Beetroot
    Spring onions
    A few strawberries
    Radishes
    Rocket
    Mizuna (sp?)
Red & Green Salad bowl lettuce
    Little Gem
Cut & come again salad leaves

    Parsley ( Flat & Curled)
    Basil
    Mint
    Chives
    Coriander
    Dill

It's my first year growing & nearly everything has been grown in pots, guttering (lettuce & strawberries ) & bags ( potatoes )

I don't have a great deal of ground to grow in, I tried ( or rather the kids tried) radishes in pots & the ground.

We've had a few from the ground that haven't been touched by the slugs, the majority however have been feasted upon.

We've had a much better result growing in pots :)

Spring onions, a single strawberry (blackbird chief suspect for pinching the others on that plant) but more are nearly ready (must get some netting on today while it's fine!) and mixed salad leaves.
The rasps are quite a long way off (ditto netting) and the spuds are getting flower buds so hopefully in for a bumper crop again this year :D!

The spring oni0ns were sown in last years potato containers (tipped out, rifled for spuds then put all the compost back), however I missed a few seedling sized spuds and have just harvested a sideplate-ful of small new potatoes - I need the containers for something else now or they might have grown a bit bigger!

Ooooh I forgot about the rhubarb  We've had a few rhubarb crumbles

I grow radishes in the kid's old plastic toy boxes, they're about 18" x 12" and 12" tall. Also very useful for lego :D

Rhubarb, rhubarb and more rhubarb This has been an absolutely marvelous season for it. Salad leaves and loads of radishes. I grow these in two boxes about 15x15 bought in poundland and so far have had no slug damage.
