Morning all :D Some fab running going on this weekend i see, well done to all of you who risked the heat!

Today is officially Day 1 of my new Training Plan, with an aim of losing 70lbs by halloween. It's only 4 lbs a week, so i will be off to the gym tonight for my 4 miler, plus a few weights. I'm actually really excited!!!!!! :D

    Good luck tonight!!! :D:D
  • Ah ha I am back after a week off! Glad to see some good performances being put in. Sadly I could not do my race as I was limping in the morning after the 40min dog walk so I felt it was better to sacrifice my £10  Than risk a few weeks of injury. I will be going out for a run today the first in nearly two weeks (and im a year closer to 40!) although I will probably leave it till later tonight when hopefully it will be a lot cooler than it looks atm.

    have a good day all.

I was wondering where you'd got to KYCP!!

Its annoying when you have to withdraw but sooo much better for your health :D

Hope this evening goes well! Take it easy though it'll still be warm this evening and you're still recovering a little!

I thought I'd be in agony this morning, but feel remarkably chipper!!! Any advice from you long term runners as to where I can devise a training plan to step it up from 5k to 10k???

    Thanks

Well, had a bit of a crappy run yesterday, tbh - was very hot and I was running late, so thought I'd push the pace on a 10k a bit. Obviously pushed somewhat too hard, as I couldn't keep going beyond 3.5miles. One of those days where I started too fast then couldn't slow myself down enough to recover.

Still, it's not all bad news, the first 3 miles were (iirc) 7:20, 6:29, 7:30 and was just under 22 mins at the 5k mark....I took the second mile, particularly, as an encouraging sign - that's not too far off the <40 10k pace I need...so being able to do one mile at that pace means I'm 1/6th of the way there, right? :D

Sure Becky or Rich would knock you together a plan if you want something structured and if you ask *really* nicely :)

Personally, though, I followed quite a simple plan - I just kept on running further. :)

Ooh, forgot to mention, sposed to be doing a 7/9 at lunch - peak heat...hmm, that'll be...sweaty :)

It was a busy week off, nearly glad to be back to work (for the rest :rotfl:). Did the lake district, alton towers & went upto northumberland. Glad to see your back running and enjoying it.

Rich here are the races I'm thinknig of for the rest of the year:
    Eccup 10
    Hackney Half - ulfdance?
    Fleetwood half - Sep
    Bexhill half - Nov
    Bedford half - Dec

I'm going to taper for the last two I think to aim for the 1:30 but we'll see how a week on Sunday goes first I think :D
