I dont sit at a desk, i walk up and down all day waving at aircraft, sometimes if im lucky, i get to pump fuel & oil into them.

On other days, i get to repair them..

Maybe i should sit at a desk..

Oops, just to clarify, I meant "here" as in "in this office", not as in "on this board" :D
  • Oooh, you nearly dropped yourself in it there idio :rotfl::rotfl:

Sounds like stings and beasties are all around today - I don't know about anyone else but I'm finding overgrown nettles and branches a bit of a problem at the moment. I look like I'm staggering drunkenly trying to swerve them some days. :D

I've got loads of admiration for those of you braving the heat during the day - I think I'm going to stick to getting up and setting out extra early this week.

I'm sorry but your excellent account of your adventure made me laugh krider; good time though well done. I'm not confident enough yet to reveal my new goal so I'll keep it to myself for the moment and share it with you after Abingdon ;)

I can laugh about it now Simply - my colleagues helped with that too :) Though I have just made sure another winged stinger bearing thing in the house was dispatched with perhaps rather too much fly spray! Revenge... :o

Empathise about the overgrown areas - generally they are avoidable for me if I'm the only one on those paths but it is not always possible.

Right, back to the tennis for another desk dweller...

    This is refreshing to see!!

An initiative to start raising expectations of road running potential instead of letting potentially good runners settle for mediocre times.

I'm not surprised to see Mike Gratton involved as a regular provider of in-depth training advice to anyone who requests it free of charge.

It will be interesting to see the results of their efforts!

    South East Road Running Squad

The initiative has been proposed by the South East Road Running Leadership Group (RRLG) which comprises representatives from a number of running clubs both large and small within the region. The Group meet regularly to plan and organise activities that develop running clubs and runners in the South East . These activities range from those for the first time runner to those for the talented and speedy. The group has recognised the need for providing talented road runners, many of whom develop at older ages, with the “squad experience”. As a member of the squad they will receive coaching, advice and support from experienced and qualified distance coaches.
Colin Goater, the Portfolio Holder for Road Running in the region and a highly qualified distance coach, having coached athletes to Olympic level, is heading up the squad and intends to call upon expertise in a number of fields to help the road runners improve. Backing the idea of supporting road runners is Kent man and 1983 London Marathon winner Mike Gratton, who wants to encourage the development of talent. “It would be great to see greater depth in road races" says Mike who has of late seen standards in road races drop compared to the era in which he had such success. Mike is sharing his knowledge and expertise with the RRLG on a number of projects.
Mark Dayson the Kent County Athletics Development Officer is keen to start encouraging the younger road runners to develop. Mark is setting up the inaugural County Road Running Squad this winter in Kent for younger athletes. For more details contact 07795 540039 email: mark.dayson@kent.gov.uk

Nope, afraid not. London is a different region.

Ooo just found some interesting coaching courses I may be interested in for relatively modest fees - and whats more my employer is willing to pay half the cost!:D:D

I find that an interesting comment considering the difference between 'A' and 'B' for the half marathon is only 2 minutes and for the marathon 4 minutes!!!!

May as well aim for 'A'!!!:D:D
