Managed to book accomodation for 19th September for the Great North Run. Staying in durham and catching the train up. Far far cheaper than staying local.
£45 instead of £145..0 -

£45 instead of £145...... Durhams perfect for a pre-half Marathon relax.. better then Newcastle /Gateshead anyway
... but dont use to much energy on the walk up to the trainstation.....

I know it well, but its a nice walk down the hill when we get the train back.
Its 10min walk from the pub hotel, so might be lazy and get a taxi..0 -
OK, which one of you left the oven on outside?
Some nice running again last night from KM and Rich.
So what is the goal for next year then Simply? As rich said, there is amazing consistency going on so I'm sure you can do whatever it is!
Good luck with "Day 1" pink - let us know how it goes.
Todays run was mostly hot. With periods of very hot thrown in for good measure. And a slightly unusual incident with a flying stinging thing (species unknown). I did a good time given all of the above, but since the stinging incident at about 2.5 miles I ran mile 3 far too fast. Then had to stop briefly at about 3 miles to properly sort myself out. Then struggled to get going between miles 3 and 4 because I'd lost my rhythm, so then ran too fast again (you'd think I'd learn :rolleyes2) so miles 5 to 6 was slower than I would have liked paying the price. So I'm pleased on the one hand, but not on the other :undecided.
Anyway, set off with it feeling warm but OK. Was going with my bodies flow again but also aiming for consistency in speed as well. First couple of miles felt OK, and was pushing on when the stinging occurred. I was happily going along when I felt a jab on my shoulder blade. I swiped at it with my hand but there was nothing there. So I carried on. Then there was another further round on my shoulder. Guessed at that point I was being stung, but couldn't feel or hear the culprit. And aside from the stings hadn't felt it crawl into the t-shirt! A ladies fit/shaped wicking t-shirt so not clinging but certainly not the baggiest garment out there! So I carried on. Then I heard the angry buzzing of the trapped perpetrator... Cue me panicking and removing t-shirt (thank goodness for ladies sport tops which can be used with or without t-shirts) - whilst still running of course. Ran for a while like that, which is not my preferred way despite several women liking to and I'd not suncreamed shoulders and back. I suspect that the lack of clothing and panic probably amused many drivers along the main road I happened to be running along as this unfolded! Never in a nice quiet area is it!? Got to a patch of grass to sort myself out, shake out any beasties, and got covered up. Watch was stopped here, though I was only stopped for about a minute. Headed off again but far too fast, so had to slow down again. Then hit a large patch of heat. Sun, no shade, and no wind. Water by this point was horrible and warm and not in the slightest bit refreshing. Despite that miles 3, 4, and 5 were very consistent at 9:38, 9:34, 9:39. So I was doing better than I felt I was doing having got back and looked at the splits. Final mile as I've mentioned was a struggle but kept it just under 10 minute miling.
You just don't think of these dangers when popping out at lunchtime for a run...!And at least I know I have something of a kick for a 5k if needed, though I'd prefer it wasn't bought about in races by being attacked...
Stats: 6 miles in 58:35 (9:45/mile pace).
Total for the week = 6 miles.0 -
Krider - ouch
But well done for carrying onSome more good miles there and a good pace considering how hot it is!

Just to report a 7.2 today - 1:09, so nice and steady. Pretty hot, though, I was OK while I was going, but really felt the heat once I stopped and it's taken me a good couple of hours to cool down properly. Few stings and brambles today, but well worth it to be out running in the sunshine for once0

You are mad idio with your lunch time running but well done all the same0
