Iv been doing a good level of training hoping to get under the 2hour mark iv been training at around 9.30 min miles so hoping to get down to 9 mins mile for the race but just to complete it would be nice as its my first one.
Good luck for the 21 miler tommorrow
That sounds like a reasonable target, JJ. Obviously with the heat a steady start is more important than ever but best of luck.
And I'm sure we'll cross paths in the near future in some race or other.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Todays not really that long run was not that slow either...
I did 8.35 miles in 1:22:29 (9:52/mile pace). Set out with it misty and apparently cool. How wrong was I!? Within a mile I was really quite warm, and within two, the sun was making valiant attempts at burning off aforementioned mist. By 9:30am, safely home, showered, and eating it was already bright sunshine and incredibly warm.
I got into the faster pace by accident. I was running as to how I felt (within reason 'cos of avoiding the starting off silly fast!), and the miles were flowing by. Which was nice - been a while since it felt like that. Never maintained the above pace for that sort of distance before either. It was also quite consistent - not 11m miles, then 9m miles. Pleased with that as it is an increase in miles again too (building back up to 10 and 12 miles again).
Total for the week = 26.05 (.05 being vital of course) miles
Since then I've walked over 7 miles throughout the day  so am feeling the legs slightly this evening. Possibly down to dehydration since it got silly hot where we were today.
Some good efforts getting out there today - the more so given the heat! And happy over the hillness UK  - it's great in the next decade up from the 20s
And loads of luck to JJ for the half - let us know how it all goes.0 -
Wow well done krider
great pace and distance in this heat
You are doing really well and making great progress!!0 -
Stupid question time......blame the beer
I found some 14's of the shoes I like but size 13... My first running shoes where a 11 and battered my toes. The ones I got now are 12 and seem just right.. Fact is these 14's where only 35... And new when in season where 125..... They seemed ok on fit and did about 400M on the tredmill in shop... But any advice on 2 sizes up when running long distances ?????Cabbage Patch 09 - 10m - 1hr 06mLeicester 09 -1/2 - 1h 26m0 -
Nicely done Krider.
Because of the way you approached it, it would seem that the heat didn't really affect the end result too much!
You must feel great with another step forward in the continued progress.........just keep enjoying it!:D:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks guys - yeah quite chuffed with that :j. I couldn't quite believe the final average pace when I first got home (I just look at current pace when running). Knew it was 10ish, but even so!
