    E.C. you have mail :D

    Becky

Thanks for the plan!! I am in your debt!!!;)

Going to change the days to suit but I will try and follow it as strict as possible!!

    Does Fartlek mean speed training??

If it does I am unsure about this as I never really did this type of training before and worry about being out of breath very soon into the run!!

E.C, that garmin will time you, and let you track your heart rate. Good price to get into the HR monitoring world if you are interested. Also it will upload to Garmin software via a dongle thing if you use Windows/Mac. It won't track your pace/distance unless you buy a footpod to go with it which has a RRP of more than the watch/HRM strap. There is a later model out now, Forerunner 60, but no idea of the price, and for an entry level model I think go for the cheap option! MSE and all that :D

Simply - like the description of you in relation to hills! I got annoyed by a cyclist refusing to overtake me the other day but ride so close to cramp me - maybe I should have let something out :rotfl:

Pink - good luck with the walk and paparazzi duties!

And rich and becky, enjoy running round [STRIKE]some tennis courts[/STRIKE] wimbledon tomorrow!

My plan is to run tomorrow morning before we head out for the day but I'll update later on Saturday or Sunday as the forums may be be read-only still.

  • Thanks pink; I can see hours of fun looking through those for relevant ones to send in emails!!

I don't know about you krider but I find that some cyclists can be quite aggressive; on my usual route I use a cycle/foot path that narrows in places and find that the cyclists are very loathe to accommodate me. I've nearly been knocked over quite a few times and had to stop and flatten myself against the hedge on many occasions. Last night was different though - she just made me laugh!!!

Oh and thanks for the reminder about 'read only' - I'm not very observant and hadn't noticed the forum downtime banner. :o

    Hello all,

    7.18miles in 1hr 6mins 28secs

Thought it was longer, but according to mapmyrun its that distance. Really was running out of energy at the end of the run, did not take any water bottles with me, but had a energy gel bar before i started.

Would of loved to carry on, but i had no more go in me. Might be because i had chocolate shreddies for breakfast, but i never normally have breakfast before i run. Maybe some more energy bars, and some of a higher grade.

Something like this (Link to Lucozade Store - 24 gels for £21.38) as im packing these in from tesco at £1 a gel, but i dont think there as strong as the others.

Alias - you dont need energy gels below 20 miles (and even then you dont really need them) your body stores energy in glycogen form for 20 miles worth of running roughly and after that ponit it has to access other stores (i.e. fat not so easy hence why many runners hit the wall here in a marathon you need to train the body to access these fat stores) - you were probably just tired or hot or dehydrated or all three...

Dont worry 8 miles is a good run all the same :D

Did a gentle 7 miler at lunch today (1:06), which seemed to go pretty quickly tbh - a nice run, all in all, feel quite refreshed and re-energised this afternoon, which has to be a good thing.

I'd been OK until recently, but the uber-good weather seems to have bought all the numpties out; cyclists or otherwise  Pedestrians seem to cause me as much grief as cyclists right now, though there have been a handful of cyclists on (non cycleway) paths refusing to give way! I think I've got brazen and held my line recently though - possibly stupid... Many pedestrians just spread across the whole pavement when there is no need and then stare at you dodging round them! You do get a few chaps moving to the side, even when they don't need to, but it's a minority round here. Bring on the cold weather!!!! :rotfl:

Should be nice and quiet early tomorrow morning though - plenty of road traffic compared to Sunday, but fewer runners/cyclists I find.

Some good running going on today Idio and Alias.

Its shady anyway so no burning (hopefully :p)...but thunderstorms are forecast so who knows...I like running in the rain anyway so no problem to me although it can get muddy sometimes - the icy one was the worst:

To be perfectly honest this understates just how dangerously icy it was.

There was no intention of racing on it, even as we were stood on the start line - I think we were of the mind that we might as well have a tip toe round since we were already there.

But when the starter said 'Go' we were unaware that Rory was wearing spikes and went off like a whippet. In a moment of madness we all followed and, hey presto, there was a race!!

Complete madness - and how he ran 18:39 on that is still a mystery!
