I'dconcentrate on the good news part of that, UK!!:D
To run your first ever 16 miler is a big milestone and obviously when going to a new distance the time doesn't matter at all. You still know that you can run 13 miles at 7:20 or quicker!
So what exactly hurt or was it just a general 'hurtiness'?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

I like that word!:p Just made it up...but you know what I meant!;)
Dont worry about the 'other 10 miles' ....it all comes together in time with a series of 20 milers to build the underlying muscle endurance.
And shuffling is good...thats what you're aiming for!:D
So, all in all, another good Sunday for UK!!
Becky was up at the crack of dawn at 6:30ish and convinced me it was time for a run so off we went before the world had woken up! Then just been out to watch the Leeds 10K at the halfway turnaround point and setting off in about an hour to go over to Freckleton for this afternoon's half marathon......so a very runnerly day in general.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Morning everyone
Sorry I haven't been on and posted my time from Friday night's race well here it is, a very slow 30:50. I was a bit disappointed with that as I was hoping for about 30, but I thought it was a bit pants overall. They had chip timing but only at the finish, so if you weren't on the front line at the start (which I wasn't, I was about half way back and there were 379 finishers, with only about 8 people per row) you didn't get a proper time.Too much month, not enough Cash!

Scorgeous,
That looks pretty good nonetheless as you weren't expecting to break 30 minutes. Was that the official time then at 30:50 or your own watch?
Although it has to be said that chip timing is not the norm except in the biggest events.
So how did the race go other than the timing - did it feel good, were you happy enough with your own performance?
Btw the WAVA was 47.84% so the best so far - well done!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Good luck Rich, sammy, sally and anyone else racing today. I hope that the weather conditions are favourable and that you all achieve the times you are hoping for
:D
Don't be despondent scorgeous; you can lose quite a few seconds waiting to cross the start line. When I did my 10k I started at the back and started my watch as I crossed the start line - there was a big difference between my watch time and my official time.
You are so speedy Uk, I'm almost embarrassed to post today's runHowever, I am sooooooooo happy that I'm going to anyway.
I did it, I did it, I did it - I ran 14.5 miles - and it was comfortable and I enjoyed it and I could have run further!! :j:j:j
14.5 miles 02:39:06 (10:58/mile) - that is my slowest recorded pace but it paid off and I'm now almost believing that I will be ready to run Abingdon.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Fantastic effort, Simply!!:D:D
Think back to how impossible that would have seemed 6 months ago even.
And the pace was the fastest you should have been looking at for this type of run so dont be embarrased about anything to do with that session, it was absolutely spot on - mission accomplished!
Just keep doing what you're doing and you'll be fine for Abingdon - respect the distances and they'll respect you.;)Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thanks Rich
That was the official time. Like an idiot I didn't take my nikeplus band because they said it was chip timing. I did have my watch on but I couldn't get the stop watch to work so I just kept an eye on it at the markers.
Overall the race wasn't too bad. I hit the 1km at exactly 6 minutes after the start, 2km at 12 and 3km at 18 then it all went downhill from there. I really struggled with the last 2km and couldn't even speed up at the end, but I suppose if maybe I can get up to 4km at the 24minute marker next time and just build on my fitness I will get there eventuallyToo much month, not enough Cash!
