I've had a busy day today. I was in Roundhay park this morning for 7am  My partner, Rob was doing the Leeds Triathlon (Olympic distance) and he said it was a very hard course, very hilly and he did a very acceptable 3hrs and 4 mins (46 minutes for the 10K race after swim and the bike!)
We got back and I did my fastest 10K so far in 1 hour 14 on a quite hilly course (5K time was 35mins - also a PB!) :T
So am now sat relaxing, Pizza Hut have delivered tea, and I'm watching Come Dine With Me :rotfl:Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0 -
I can't really believe that I am typing this but here goes
Rich, can you add a new race for me please

Langdale Marathon
Naturally being its a local race i arrived about 45 mins before the start, heck the fun run had already started as i could see that in the traffic queue for the car park. Once parked and stripped off i headed over to the pub to meet the rest.
Hippo, Basil, Caterpillar, eL Bee, Vrap, cumbriaandy and Shades were all there. Met a few local club runners i know too. Ambled down to the start and started weaving our way through the pack to a suitable starting point. Near the back
Warned Hippo that after about a mile there was a slight upward sectionThe rest of the route required visual reminders as it was backwards to when i did the half 2 years ago. Ran to the bottom of the main part of the minor incline with Hippo and then settled into a nice leisurely walk up the 1 in 4 hill. God knows how far it is, at least half a mile according to the sign at the bottom.
Never stopped to look at the scenery as there was lots of people around and there was the small matter of having to ascend it again on the second lap. Once you are up though there is a nice loooooooong downhill afterwards with a few up bumps to slow your descent. It was on the latter stages were i caught up Mick and Phil, quick hello then off i went down the hill.
Hit the flat at the bottom and along the narrow country lanes behind the worlds smelliest diesel powered 4x4. Naturally it blocked the road too so being my calf was aching a bit i stopped twice to stretch the calf and give the damn thing time to get ahead of me. Failed there but at least the calf eased off around 5/6 miles in.
Hippo had caught up by now having not gone down the hill quiet as fast as me and we ran togeather all the rest of the way. Now i promised i wouldn't say how i followed Hippo's !!!! round so i wont. Oh wait i just did
Anyway i digress, plenty of lovely scenery to look at when going along the undulations around the course before the long climb up from Skelwith Bridge towards Elterwater with a steep drop down afterwards too. Then a few more miles along the 'main' road back towards Langdale which is generally uphill, althugh the last mile or so is fairly level. Not counting the undulations off course.
Got to the halfway point in 2:21 which was a 2 min PB on 2 years ago for me. Did mean a sub 5 was probably out of the question though. It was here that after a 1:45 half Caterpillar thought 30 mins rest was enough and decided to do a second lap with us.
Naturally on the second lap the initial climb might of involved some posing for pics for Hippo. Certainly made the climb easier, i also failed at walking up it backwards as i was going sideways not up for some reason. Some aches going down the other side this time, i dont like these hilly races much but its local and it was the 20th anniversary.
Pretty much the same for the second lap but slower as we all had tired achy legs etc. Hippo did say on the descent after the first hill that we could walk to a sub 5:30 so that was the target. I did beg to differ in that there were still a lot of hills but the running at times would sort that.
Talked and ran, walked, jogged, hobbled are way around to the climb up above Elterwater. A wee bit slower this time round, cant think whyAnyway Hippo and Caterpillar where running more on the way up so where in front of me when we hit the downhill but whilst they stopped for pic taking i think i carried on straight down the hill using the principle of once i'm down it it'll hurt less
On the downhill Basil was going the other way in his car on the way home so a quick hello as i carried on downwards. Hit the flat at the bottom and soon broke into a walk up to the next drink station where Hippo and Caterpillar caught up.
Did some powerwalking for a mile or so but never got to far behind and with a few miles 2 go we were all running and walking in a group again. About 24 and half miles in we all got caught up by Shades who had snuck up on the lot of us. Pretty much ran with Shades to the end from there.
Did the whole run in 5:14:10 so the second lap took erm 2:53 roughly which isn't to bad. Finished the race and went and got changed before heading back to the pub where we were all sat down drinking afterwards.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Fri 25/9 Rest Day still feeling knackered
Sat 26/9 Rest Day Ditto
Sun 27/9 5.0 Miles 00:51:16 (10:15/mile)
Been feeling somewhat knackered most of the week and tonights run was meant to be 10 miles but the legs felt very dead. Sort of like the latter stages of a flat out 10k where you cant make them work any faster.
Hopefully this will be the bad run before a big PB, seem to have theses sort of runs quite often. 4 day week at work as i asked for and got friday off so i can have a early night before the early start to get up to Inverness at a sensible time.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Okay we suspect Idio had a blinding one with 42:05!!!
Ha, yeah, I wish.
Did a lot better than I was expecting to, though, following the last couple of runs this week...ended with a chip time of 44:54, which I was stoked with, really - 2.5 mins off the PB, sub-45, felt good for the most part, too...(*died* after the finish line...but was OK after a little sit down)
Good race, all round...nice weather, good course, pretty well organised...a few people out of position - especially in the last couple of miles, overtook *so many* people as they ran out of energy...My run was good too, controlled, pretty constant pace, slight increase in the last mile, but not a lot...
Completely blinded myself at the water station by pouring water into my eyes - a mistake I'll know not to make again.
So....2 months to shed 5 minutes...is it possible? Who knows!0 -
Oh..and, of course, well done to km, uk and *especially* hannah...A great milestone in one's running career!
Some good running this weekend, people!0 -
I can actually move normally this morning! When I woke and thought about moving I wasn't sure how I was going to feel
Idio - well done on a great run. I started in the zone 60min+ and there was only a few people behind us (maybe 8??) so I was dreading coming in last!!
Mascott - get well soon!
Becky - as I have followed your trainning plans so far can I be cheeky and ask if you can help me out again with a plan for the next 10k in 10 weeks? pleassseeeee The run I have just done was flat this next run (from what I have been told) has a hilly bit that we have to run twice.
Any advice who be much appreciated xxxFollowing :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -

Still a pb though = very good considering how bad your back has been:D
Who knows about 5 minutes...lots of speedwork needed I would think...:cool:0
