I'm really pleased with that time considering the blazing sun and heat.

Just had a shower so feeling nice and fresh again now

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

    Congrats Linda :D

I can see your 10k time coming down dramatically in November!!!

Well done to Poor on a blistering long run, and Smiply - wow 54 miles and another solid long run - enjoy the tapering ;)

JJ - 38 degrees  ouch - and to get 5:11 on that - very very impressive!!!

KMS - hope you did well today - it was very warm by 12 so you have my sympathies...

How did your 16 miles go Uk? Was your knee ok?

   ...

I did my first ever "not reach target":eek:

Could feel my knee was still a bit painfull when running... argued with myself for about 2m - 3m. It felt ok in that I could have done my 16m. But with Athens so close now I decided to give up the ghost and came back on myself.. will beat myself up for a few days due to the fact I dident do what i set out to do... but I will get over it. Still 6m on my knee today and it feels fine now so hopefully buy Tuesday ill be 100% back... I hope.... pray.... ;)

And well done on everyones time...

I turned it off in disgust at all them johny southeners running while I was not.

Still i will get my revenge next sunday... which buy all acounts is a right mess of a race.. :D even the race info says "MP3 FTW" :rotfl:.

think I could get top 10 if I went for it ;)

Yes I have a 10 mile race in Bradford in October and the Leeds 10k in November.
I now have a previous 10k time to beat too.

    Great North Results :

    Becky 2:08:20

    Alias 2:08:27

    Linda (Bank_Of_Slate) 2:42:57

    Smetf 2:46:00

    K_Bagpuss 2:54:27

    Congratulations to one and all!:T:T:T:T

I just wanted your marvellous results to show up again! Well done, Becky, Alias, Linda, Smetf, bagpuss - you should all feel very very proud of yourselves. Maybe one day I'll survive 13 miles!

I did 6.23 miles this evening, 1:06:38 - Rich reckons 2X5K speed +2 mins, I was a bit over that, but didn't kill myself, although my legs feel heavy, by breathing and heart rate were very comfortable. Took it steady and thought, get used to the mileage. It worked to get me moving in the first place, so hopefully will help me get used to upping my distances.
  • krider - I've just realised that my previous post sounded really bossy. :o What I meant to say was; perhaps you might like to consider finding our way round the course together if you are entering?? We could fish each other out of the Thames if necessary :rotfl:

No I promise it didn't sound bossy. Though the reply above did make me laugh out load at the Thames bit - OH now has confirmation I'm nuts given the look he gave me :) I've entered now and paid me monies and everything. Can I be added to the list as well please Rich?

Some great GNR running today guys - very impressed as it looked very warm. I'd have tripped that fella becky - ignorant idiot!

Some great mileage going on in the LSRs today too (UK you did the right thing - even if it irks you). Can't imagine a 50+ mile week. Mid thirties tires me :o. I've definately had more energy this weekend by doing 3-5 miles less than I had been doing. Weird how just a few miles makes such an impact in terms of both increase and decrease!
  • Hello Peeps, Obviously Bank_of_Slate has kept you all up to date. My feet are feeling rather heavy and achey now. So I was last in the MSE'ers :o Well, someone had to be! I did find it hard going especially on my hips and knees, and I can't say I didn't have a couple of walking breaks cos I did - and nipped into a portaloo around mile 9! I said I wanted to do it in under 3 hours, and predicted 2:50 so considering the sunshine and the temperatures
Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.
