Well done again all, I watched it on the tv this morning - looked like a great atmosphere!
Little 3 miler for me, and I really stretched my legs and felt good.

Bagpuss - are you mad? You did amazingly!!! I could only dream of completing that distance, never mind in under 3 hours! Take a big round of applause.0

Very well said!
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Race report will appear tomorrow i think when i'm more capable of moving
Did the first lap in 2:21 which is erm a 2 minute PB for the one lap for me. Finished in 5:14 as the hills are every so slightPartly why the race report will be tomorrow as i want to stick the route on mapmyrun to show the bumps.
Was a tad warm earlier on but was cooling off later on and in fact i was getting rather cold sat drinking my coke at the end. Actually ran an entire race with Plodding Hippo from RW/Fetch too which is a first as we usually split at some point.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Well done to everyone else as well
Alias - 7 seconds
Im back from the GNR,
No real aches and pains during the race, was really pi**ed off by having to run around people, either via the middle of the road (crash barrier area) or the edge of the road.
I was in the caged area about 10am, by 10-10am i really needed a week, but no chance of getting out of there to get one. Then really enjoyed the warmup, was fun. Finally got to the start line about 10-50am at a guess.
My time as stated above was 2hr 8mins 27secs which would of been under 2 hours if plans had gone well. Had to stop at the toilets just before the 6 mile mark for a No2, there is only so long you can keep things in. I remember as i passed the toilets at the start if i should of stopped or not.
Anyway, im sure i did see becki by the baggage bus area near bus 26 or so. Yes it was me when you did a double take but you walked off...
It was my first ever half marathon, i last ran on the 11th Sept which was 8miles in 69mins, so on that basis i should of put in a 1hr 52mins run. But boy, this GNR isnt as easy as it looks. Its a serious lot of up's and down's going up and down the A167 motorway. Lots of people lining the roads and the street. I managed to obtain some orange segments, 2 ice pops, an ice cream from various people on the side of the roads.
As soon as people got rolling, you could tell it was a warm day, im thinking i might have a nice sun-tan, will find out when i get in the shower to wash the salt off my head & ears.
I was using the water as 1/2 for me, 1/2 for my head.
Boy, a warm day, but in all its cost me a fortune and i would probably do it again, but start further to the front & camp on the seafront somewhere...
Ive no idea how a walking backwards horse can start in front of me..
Crazy, but this is the GNR..0 -

Simply, you just dont tire any more, do you? 54 miles is more than the vast majority of runners ever manage so the musc;le strength will stay with you for a long time.:D
That made me laugh out loud Rich - I'm knackered!! Thank goodness it's only 52 miles this week. :rotfl::rotfl:
krider - is this a good time to tell you that I can't swim?
There's been some excellent running today - that was a good time bj you must be pleased!
Glad you enjoyed your run evab; looking forward to the race report kms.
Uk - sorry to hear that your knee was still painful - it's not easy doing the sensible thing is it? Fingers crossed you'll be ok by Tuesday.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -

Well 2 hr 46 as you know- pretty happy with that. It was v. hot I am quite pink in places!!
Really struggled from 8 miles on and had to walk in places combination of lack of training and struggling with heat I think.
Had bath and wine and food have just appeared :j

Bj- Thats a great effort from a training point of view. You would be looking at about 1:02 in a nice flat road 10K so 1:06 in training is going to do you the world of good in terms of developing strength and pushing that 5K time further down under 30 minutes!:D
KMS - That must be impressive based on the fact that we know the hills are at least 'significant'. So must be worth say a 4:15 - 4:30 flat marathon in around 18c conditions. Great effort.
Alias - Thats the problem with the big races now I'm afraid, little 'practicalities' become big problems and can scupper your efforts. Its interesting to see how close yours and Becky's splits were (albeit on different parts of the course):
5K Alias 27:20, Becky 27:36
10K Alias 58:52 Becky 59:27
15K Alias 1:30:00 Becky 1:30:07
13.1 Alias 2:08:27 Becky 2:08:20
That would have made a cracking head-to-head race!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Clearly in all markets (inc the stop for a poo 10k time), Becky was always behind..even though she was a whole zone in front.
Take away the 3-4min poo time, then were onto a 54:52 10k time..
I passed so many Orange Coloured people i lost count....:rotfl:
