1 DAY, 22 HOURS AND 53 MINUTES

I can't believe it's come around so soon! It only feels like yesterday I got the news I'd got a place!

Not sure if Ill be able to join in with this mainly becasue the posts that I have red everyone seems fairly serious about running.

Im looking to run to get fit but ruptured my left PCL in 2001. I still get some pain and instibility when running, especially on pavements round my way, so was looking for some advice really.

I'm currently doing 5 mins run with 1 minute rest between each for a total of 30 mins. Been out twice this week. However the pain im experiancing after is bearable but worrying.

    Can anyone help?

    G

Hi G! I too was a lurker feeling very inadequate and very unfit compared to alot of other people, but you are not other people, you are you!
When I first started I couldn't do 5 mins run and 1 min rest - I was doing 1 minute run and 2 mins walk. And I'm now doing the Great North Run on Sunday - albeit at my own slow pace but at least I'm having a go and if I need to walk a little I'll walk a little!
So welcome on board, everyone is lovely and there's lots of good advice available :j

Youre not supposed to run this week - it's called tapering according to my all knowing OH! So I don't feel too bad about not running much this week! :rotfl:

I just did a steady and gentle 4 mile jog round the park last night.
Lots of very busy squirrels around.
It was my first run without music too.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • Ooh, everyone in for an exciting weekend then - wishing speedy boots to all of you!

Hannah - how was it this morning? Tell me you haven't passed out somewhere, ha ha.

I ran before work this morning and did 5K in 29:52 - yeah!
