Congratulatios, Bj!!!:T:T
We knew that 30 minute barrier would have to fall soon.
It also shows that the Roundshaw times are worth more than they appear...it is tough work getting around that course compared to nice tarmac pavements!
Onwards and upwards....are you parkrunning this weekend?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hi All,
Just wanted to register my interest, i'm new to running (jogging) and have just completed my first 5k for charity, we jogged it pretty slowly if i'm honest (didn't time it) but looking to do more and start improving my times.
Anyone involved around Blackpool / Preston?0 -
Hi Carlos and welcome to the club,
lots of people at all levels in here!
Have you got any more races planned? It really helps you to focus your training when you know there's a race to train for
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
Welcome Carlos - well done for finishing the course - that was my only goal when I started.
Steve - yes, of course I'm park running this weekend, are you? Was thinking about Wimbledon, but everyone says it's easier and I've kinda got this grit determination to bag Roundshaw in under 30 minutes!
There's a nice 10K on sunday near me, Ashtead - but it's fully booked. Can't find anything else for Sunday listed, shame.0 -

Hi Linda,
No more planned just yet, but i do want to do some more next year, and maybe do a 10k run by the end of next summer.
Looking for people to go for a run with, to use as a benchmark - any takers?
I know targets are personal, but what times should i be aiming for for 5ks and 10ks?0 -
Hi Carlos - As we always recommend, have a look at parkrun.com and see if anything takes your fancy. Free 5Ks every Saturday morning at 9am - Olympic athletes to beginners all welcome. I think at the moment Heaton Park in Manchester is still the nearest but there are new ones starting all the time so keep an eye out.
Bj - I like your style "Of course I'm parkrunning". I think you've got the bug!:D
Wimbledon is flatter than Roundshaw but I wouldnt say it was necessarily faster. I did 19:10 at Roundshaw and until a couple of weeks ago my best at Wimbledon was 19:05 so not a lot in it.
Tomorrow, however, it is back to Leeds to see if the 18:48 can be attacked. It is also Becky's first appearance as a marshall.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

To be fair, only you can decide that. But again have a look at the parkrun results and you'll get a feel for what is reasonable for different abilities.
For the 5K at Leeds we have the guy who was crowned World Triathlon Champion last weekend running around 15:30ish down to around 50 minutes for the more casual runners....so somewhere in between those times is perfectly reasonable.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

BJ - well done on your sub 30min!!
Simply - great runs this week well done (I am tried after reading that!)
Biggaz - welcome to the thread, I am quite new to running (week 11 now) and have steadily built up from not being able to run for 1minute comfortably to running 1hr 47min at the weekend running 8miles. Stick with the thread as I would never have imagined it possible for me to be like this now. I can't suggest anything about the pain though sorry I have no idea x
