For all the GNR bods this was the team's performance last year (we only had one representative then):

    Chickadee 2:09:20

    Tyne Bridge 00:17:14

    10K 00:59:35

    15K 01:29:54

Lots going on this weekend, very exciting - good luck BoS, smetf, becky, kBagpuss and Alias hope you all have a great time.

welcome to Carlos, hope you enjoy being part of the group

Well done Hannah on your new distance and to bj for your sub 30min 5km.

I hope your knee improves UK.

Good running Rich and simply as always!

I went out for my long run today, was veeeeeerrrrrrrry slow but managed to do 18 miles so very pleased with that. Hubby is away with TA but it's the last weekend so can plan my runs better for the next 5 weeks. He won't be going away until after the mara, for 2 week block so obviously I'll still be resting from the run :rotfl:.

We're going to run together next weekend just need to get my folks to have the kids for the afternoon, going for some serious hill work up the Great Orme.

    Fri 18/9 18 miles 3:29:50 (11:42/mile)

    around the block....and again....and a bit more!
  • Interesting read the over-hydrating comments. There is some advice about that in the information sent out by the Windsor half organisers.

Generally I've always had signs of dehydration. Not proud of it - just stating facts. But I'm learning how to pace food and drink after my LSRs better now. But if you've done little training (harking back to the ill prepared (often) charity runners) then you are not going to know what the various signs are and how to deal with them IMHO.

Good luck those of you doing the GNR - looking forward to some good times and amusing reports :) Wave to Durham and the Metro Centre for me if you pass them on your journeys around the area!

Blimey Simply - three days, three 10 milers all almost at the same pace... Consistent is the word.

    Hi biggaz and GSXRCarlos :hello:

Hannah - got visions of you bouncing off walls - thanks for the imagery :rotfl:

Great distance evab - is that a first?

With my 10k form being about 50mins, and my 8mile being 69mins, i should in theory be able to knock out a half marathon in under 2hrs.

Though, with the week ive just had and lack of running (unwell & 98hr week). Ill be lucky to knock out anything less than 2hrs 30mins, or even start & finish the course in one-motion.

Speaking to others, the bottle neck at the start ensures a slow start, and the 12th mile hill appears to convince most people to walk.

<2hrs 30mins, no diahorrea on the day and ill be happy,

Im staying in durham, and getting the train up on the Sunday. The train is £5.40 return to newcastle with free parking at the hotel / pub.

Im concerned too with the hydration side of things too. When i go out for a run, i can run 8-10miles before having to take a drink. Usually as the wife fails to meet me with the water as i cant run with it.

I was taught not to take on water through the 7x 10k road races i did, where water was not given out till the end.

On sunday, do i progress as normal.. ie get up, breakfast then off to run. Or do i load up on energy drinks, energy gels etc, and take water every station as its free..
  • Good luck this morning, Bj - lets see if you can record an 'official' sub 30:00!:D
