  • We've just got back from the expo down by the quayside.
We had our free bowl of pasta there, not much at the expo really to be honest.
I met and had my picture taken with Mo Farah! :T

I suspect it was quite a smiley Mo Farah with his performace today in the mile.:D:D

  • Hannah, well done - you did your 10K and held your head high with the others from your club - hooray!

So many on here now - all with exciting weekends ahead - good luck, speed and energy to all of you.

Oh Steve- Park Run went badly wrong today - I overslept, got out of bed at 8.15am, rushed to dress, stuffed my face with toast and coffee in the car, got there on time, started - felt like lead, ankle buckled in a divet, nearly went over but saved myself, ouch - at this point I was going to give up, but some of the others grabbed me and encouraged me to keep going - aren't runners nice - so, I finished with worst time ever - 32:20 - boo hoo.

But, I learnt from it, I've been going to bed late all week, I have run every day except thursday when I weight trained, felt awful eating then running (and I hardly ever eat bread anyway!) and if I take a fall, I can get up and carry on. Oh, and there's always next week for the sub 30!

At least I got the exercise in though.

Now, I have 2 weeks to this 10K, hmm, do I run like mad to try and get a decent time, or will I knacker out. i'm definitely going to bed on time every night, and getting my eating back on track. No more rubbish food! (which has been gradually creeping in lately) Oh eck - why did I sign up for a 10K?!?!?!

Can't wait for the weekend reports to start rolling in from everyone.

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • How's Becky? I texted her earlier.

  • Bj - 32:20 with 'slightly unfavourable' circumstances is not too shabby.

You'll feel far better running parkruns on an empty stomach without question so if you've just taken that from today its a valuable lesson learnt.:D

And of course runners are nice people! :D:D

As far as the 10K is concerned, just set off gently and feel your way into it....you'll be fine. You should be looking at doubling your 5K time + 2 minutes for your 10K time.

I've just mentioned your text and she's realised her phone is in the car! Whoops. No doubt she'll get it after dinner!:D

Edit : She's now starting on the wine so whether any return text that you do/do not receive makes sense is open to question.;)

  • Lol thanks Rich, been dull grey and cap today but is meant to be barely any wind tomorrow and sunny. The god knows how many thousand foot of climb is the tough bit. Supposedly adds a hour to normal marathon time so anything under 5:15 is good allthough i'm expecting between 4:30 and 5:00 myself.
