you lot are amazing!! very inspirational, reading your posts and you definately help to get me out for my runs
I am hitting new territory in the morning on 2 counts as I am going to meet up with a couple of other ladies from my slimming class who are also doing the 10k at the end of the month and we are going to run (close to) the actual race route. I have only ever run on my own so this will be interesting. (I know that they run the 10k a little faster then I managed the 6m the other week) Wish me luck!! :eek:Following :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -

My muscle memory is working..........
By which, I mean it has absolutely NOT forgotten the hell I put it through earlier in the year, and is doing everything it possibly can to scream at me to put my trainers back into the box in the cupboard under the stairs!
:rotfl:
Who'd have thought that 20 mins of gentle jogging would result in this many aches!
I have much work to do!
pickle - my top tip for marathon running is to get the right trainers - I was hampered by blisters the size of footballs. There are pictures on one of the earlier running threads if you really want to see.....
You will find that the emotion of what you are trying to do, especially if you are raising money for something close to you, will get you through - but there are days when the last thing you want to do is to go and run in the freezing cold dark, when it is lashing down with rain - but you HAVE to get out there and do it. The only excuses you can use are illness, injury and ice.
You will find determination that you never thought you had. You will use muscles you never realise existed. You will somehow find out that 26 hour days really do exist in order to fit in your training runs
And, as long as you work hard for the next 8 months or so, you will have the biggest sense of achievement you have ever had.
And don't believe a word Rich says - he promised me he would wait at 20 miles in this year's marathon to take over from me for the last 6, so I could have a well earned rest and a cup of coffee. Needless to say, I got to the 20 mile marker, and he had already scarpered :rotfl:I felt so let down that it took me 4 months to get my running shoes back on
Above all, though - respect the distance. It is a bloody long way.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Hypno - As you know from before, the first run is the hardest....so its all going to be easier from here on...:D:D:D
And I was there at 20 miles waiting - trouble is I hadnt finished my pint when you came past and I couldnt waste it, not at those fancy London prices.:p And as you proved, you were well up to the job yourself anyway.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Ah well, rich......I will let you off - it would have been wrong, very wrong, of me to come between you and a pint.Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0

I did 4.7 again tonight, much easier than previously! Another 10k on Saturday planned. Only 4 weeks till the Cancer Research 10K on 18th October! I'm really looking forward to it! Can't see me runnning a marathon quite just yet though...

Clean? Probaby not, but if the suspension isn't too bad, I'll be happy! :rolleyes:Please call me 'Pickle'

Weren't some of the recent deaths at FLM fast runners who had over hydrated?? More a issue with teaching people how to hydrate properly there than anything else.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)
