Sorry to read that some races didn't go as well as others over the weekend; but at least people are finding positives from the experiences too.
Normal Monday for me - 6 miles done in 57:52 (9:38/mile). Could have been a bit faster in the last mile had I not needed to use "facilities"Normally OK at timing things like that - whoops!
Total for the week = 6 miles.
Ooh, meant to say, hope all those with ailments feel better soon. Seems to be a lot of nasty bugs around0 -
evening ladies and gents
sorry to hear that the runs didnt quite work out for some and that the old bugs are in the air....
its nice that you still find time to encourage others and are positive when its not gone great for you.....

Run 2013 VLM in PB: -4:28.260 -
Ran 4.7 tonight in 55.28. Would have been a bit quicker had I not had to keep slowing down for my friend to catch up :-)
Really didn't feel like going out this evening, but I did and feel great for it :-)
xxx:heart2: THANK YOU MARTIN!! :heart2:0 -
OK, so just back from running club.
1) The little kids train first. I was surprised at how many there were, and how fast they were! Zooooooooooooooom...Speedy Gonzales stood no chance.
2) The people were really, really friendly. I made it abundantly clear just how unfit I am (to be fair, it doesn't require much imagination when you see me in the flesh!) and I got sent over to the distance running crowd. I got a man who was virtually like my personal trainer! He showed me how to dynamically stretch, then ran round the track with me. I told him at the start that if I managed a 400m lap I would consider myself lucky, so I ran one (2.23 -slow by your standards, guys, but I was amazed to actually get around), then had a break and ran another (2.28, a bit slower, but I was even more amazed I managed two), then I ran another half lap. I think I could have done a bit more, but I know I would have needed a lift (by that I mean 'lifting') home, and I only live round the corner!
3) They were all really friendly and I can't believe I had a personal trainer. It won't last, but it was really nice of them to show me things I need to know and make me feel more at ease. I'm horribly slow and terribly unfit, but I'm still gobsmacked I managed more than 400m. Laughable, I know, but it's a start.
4) Well, since you guys have all got one, what's my (theoretical) mile average? This will be fun...hang on while I calculate it......9.53. Now all I have to do is run twice as far as I did all night, all at once!:rolleyes:

Well the photographer has been, not a bad day in all, but suspect tomorrow could be worse, as things might have worn off by then..0

Well done on the runs Saz and krider; ooh, an impromptu toilet visit - they're not the best when you're out running are they?
Sorry to hear that your stomach is still poorly Becky ........... and stop sulkingYou'll be allowed to run 6.41/mile when you're Rich's age - you'll just have to be patient and wait a bit longer :rotfl:
Rich your powers of recovery are amazing - that was a great run, no wonder you are pleased:D

Not quite twice as far since you did 1000m or so and one mile is 1600
Well done for going and congrats!! Glad you enjoyed it too - dont worry about the kiddies - the may be fast over short distances but they wont be allowed to train long distance so you'll be better than them at long soon enough0 -
Pickle - well done, fantastic, and the fear of the first time is over. So glad to hear you're going back. The idea of training with other runners really appeals. I might just enquire at the track near me. It's only a mile away.
But well done you!0 -

I'm impressed, but not aiming to compete. With anyone. I know a loser when I see one!
Still, it was good to go. Next training is Thursday night but I can't go cos I'm working. I think I am next Monday and Thursday as well, but I'll see if I can not work those nights from now on in. Or not work them most of the time if not possible. It's really good and I could learn a lot - they are all trained coaches. I'm pretty lucky to have that all a 5 minute walk away from my house.
Now I'm just waiting for Wednesday and the dead legs I've been promised! :rolleyes:Please call me 'Pickle'
