But I won't be able to see them to compare cos they're so fast!
I'm impressed, but not aiming to compete. With anyone. I know a loser when I see one!
Still, it was good to go. Next training is Thursday night but I can't go cos I'm working. I think I am next Monday and Thursday as well, but I'll see if I can not work those nights from now on in. Or not work them most of the time if not possible. It's really good and I could learn a lot - they are all trained coaches. I'm pretty lucky to have that all a 5 minute walk away from my house.
Now I'm just waiting for Wednesday and the dead legs I've been promised!
Yeah right!;) That might be what you're saying now - give it 6 months and you wont be able to keep your competitiveness hidden thats for sure.:D
As for ONLY doing 1000m during your first session - I dont know what you were expecting but thats about as much as you could have realistically hoped for and pretty much mirrors where I was at just about 12 months ago.
You've done the hardest bit - just take it easy and you'll come on leaps and bounds before you realise it!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

I'm back! Updating this after a nice bath.
ran 13.1 mi on 14/9/2009 at 6:05 PM with a pace of 12'42"/mile
Phew! I didn't stop either till I got to 11 miles and then just had to walk for a bit as my hips were killing me! Walked for about 10 mins and then slowly jogged the rest of the way home. Legs are going to be soooooo stiff tomorrow!Good wine needs to breathe, if it stops breathing try mouth to mouth.0 -
Yes, it's true about the competitiveness - I've always claimed to not have a competitive bone in my body, until now! Mostly, I'm competing with myself though.
Although, I must say, one of my friends has been running for sometime, but she's plodded along at the same time for a few years, anyway, we've had a 'little!' falling out, and I've found out she's running a local 10K in November. Well I can tell you, she doesn't know I've entered, and even if it leaves me never walking again - I'm determined to whip her speed.
Oh dear, what happened to the 'non' competitive me eh!!!0 -
By the way, the Loch Ness Marathon 4th Oct, are you only listing Marathon entrants? I'm entered for the 10K. May I find myself on your 'special' list? Woo hoo, now that'd put me up there with the pros!0
