I just think you did to much in the last 8 days to the run up...and you went out to fast in your 1/2 and it all just caught you out.
as you say you walked a mile and still got your normal time ( pace wise ) so I guess you would have been kicking about the 8.50 / 9 mile pace. which you can do its just that I think the 18m last week was still in your legs plus as you say the extra heat. ( whooo hooo roll on Athens )
but only you know how you feel when you have done your 20's...
8.50/9 pace ....I wish!!!!!I'm afraid my pace was very much my usual 'simply pace'.
The first three miles were 10.17, 10.08, 10.04 and so it continued with the fastest mile being mile 8 which was 9.49. :rotfl: Looking at my splits the 'mile' I walked must have been a little less than I thought because miles 11 and 12 were 10.33 and 11.47.
Funnily enough I usually feel fine after 18 or 20 miles but then again I run these a lot slower2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Hey, Steve, Becky - sorry today wasn't all it was cracked up to be. so, were there not many entrants to the Marathon? Strange, you must so want a crowd of runners to help 'carry' each other through. I do admire your attitudes though.
This evening I ran 5.47 miles in 56:31 - and it was really comfortable, I know it's not super fast, but I could easily have carried on a bit further, but thought save myself for during the week. I've a bit of a habit of 'crash and burn', so I'm really trying to pace it so as to get the best out of these runs. I'm going to go for 7 miles - sloooowwww on Wednesday, between now and then, a couple of snappy 3 milers ( I hope!!!)
Hannah, have I missed a post? How's your weekend gone?0 -
Bj - I think you have missed it! update was...
Sat 12/9 - 8m - 01:47:03 (13.525/m) :jwell I would be jumping for joy if I had any energy left! A fair bit slower then previous runs but I set out slow as I wanted to complete the distance. I don't feel that I could have done it much quicker as its already really hot out there.QUOTE]
Thank you for askingYou are doing fab with your runs too.

8 miles sounds scary Hannah! But I'll give it a go.
By the way, is there a calculator somewhere for working out percentages. A friend is wooping 'cos he did 10K in 42:59 today - he's so happy, 42 years old. Steve, can you let me know how to work it out, or if there's a cheats calculator somewhere?

There is a calculator somewhere BJ - rich can dig it ou for you
I feel really rough this morning - but in all the wrong places. Usually after a half the top of my thighs are sore and my ankles - todays its hamstrings and neck - definitely dehydration playing a part on yesterdays race! In total there were about 400 running I think but spread out over 26 miles thats not many people...which was definitely hard because as soon as I slowed down I lost the group I was running with and didnt see anyone else for about 20 minutes
Dont feel bad about it at all though - just treating it as a training run for this Sunday0 -
Simply I think Rich is right - you will be ready, you just had a bad race, but if you want to drop out at 20 miles (or set off as if you are going to) then thats a great training lesson0

Not been feeling well this weekend, was sick saturday night to the point that all food was gone, then just bile coming up. Followed by a little sickness during work at 7am ishy. No issues after eating a bannana, so unsure if its tiredness or just end of a cold.
Following that, ive had pretty bad stomach pains, leading to what would be classed as uncontrolled movements. Pretty bad as had to take some imodium to calm things, but i think its all wearing off again.
Cant see myself going out tonight if im still in this state, the last thing i need is to be squatting in a field whilst emptying myself.
Great north run in 6 days, so want to be fresh & fit for that, and not carrying something on the day.
Though, the positive side, i have a newspaper coming round tonight to take my picture.
I did consider seeking medical advice on this, but i think they will just tell me to let it run its course, which i clearly cannot do in work.0 -
Get well soon Alias
xxx:heart2: THANK YOU MARTIN!! :heart2:0 -
Hey all, sorry to hear you're not feeling well Alias, and sorry to hear about everyone's tough races at the weekend.
I didn't run at all over the weekend - went for an 11 mile walk on Saturday and did lots of other wandering about and gardening etc so feel well exercised anyway! Will go for one tonight (if I ever wake up today, very dozy), then I'm going to try scary Abs class at the gym tomorrow. I've also filled in the form to go to a trial British Military Fitness class but I haven't had the time/ bravery yet!
Hope everyone's running week goes well.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
