  • 3 Days To Marathon Day :D:D:D

KMS - I've no idea how you do a 100 mile race, I was pushing my limits totting up a 100 mile week earlier in the year - the thought of compressing that into just over 1 day is mind boggling!

Mascott - Thanks for the that, a bit of luck is always gladly received when doing a marathon. It looks like you're starting to enjoy parkruns as much as us!:D

BeerTins - Good to see you're still keeping those legs ticking over!:D

Krider - What Becky says basically!

UK - 2 months and it wont be over, you'll be thinking about the next one...;)

KMS- 100miles wow:T the thought of having to do 26 is making me feel sick:eek: Have you done it before? Amazing.

On the point of alcohol, is it just me or after a long run does anyone else need a beer? - its all I want after a long run (and i'm not usually a larger drinker!) Its the first thing I have- prob not sensible but even before water- that and a lion bar!

Alias, Just go and enjoy the run ( I know easier said than done!) I've been getting really stressed with runs not going as planned recently, until it hit me that I started running (and kept it up) to get fit loose weight and because I found I really enjoyed it- it made me feel good. And that feeling good and having fun is far more important than times. The crowd will get you round :D

Good luck for all those racing over the next few days, not sure I will get chance to get back on here before Mon.

Really noticed the change in weather this morning- sun was shining but sooo cold, kept a fleece on for all 6miles!- loved it though :D

Sorry if missed anything or anyone- my brain struggles to hold info for long!

I've been trying to figure out how many time I would have to run round a standard running track to have run 1 mile. According to t'interweb thee are 1,609.344 meters in a mile (1 mile = 1,609.344 meters). So that means you only have to run round a standard four times to run a mile, right?

Sorry, it's not that I can't do the maths, rather that my mental image of a mile was about ten times round the track. That's not bad at all! :)

  • Using the plan i linked to earlier with a little bit of adapting over the next 33 weeks (inc this week) i'll be running 1700 miles in total. Lowest weekly mileage 32 peaking at 75 miles a week. Gradual enough build up with a rolling 3 weeks hard one week cut back throughout. Best thing is the two races i want to do next year are both in the middle of a 3 week hard block.

Most i have done to date is 47 miles in 10 and a bit hours in a 12 hour track race. Did do 43 miles in a 24 hour track race in 13 hours but stopped early as my leg was being a sod.

According to the plan Xmas week is a cut back week and neither Xmas day or New years day have any runs on them as they are Rest days :) Handy being i normally drive home from the parents on new years day.

105 laps plus half a lap more i think is a marathon on the track. If that helps put things into perspective. 402 laps plus a bit extra is 100 miles.

 .... You will have to ask me that on the 9th Nov.

Soon im going to lose 3 nights "hopefully" ov my week. ( maybe even 4 ) so I doubt that I will be running anywhere near as much as I have been..... untill I get a job that fits round it all.

Ill still run no doubt but might just be targeting 1/2's and not fulls. :naughty:

oh and KMS your nuts man..... lol

Very similar to my plans, KMS - but I'm still not doing a 100 mile race however much you try to tempt me!:p

After Sunday the plan is to have 5 weeks doing very little, capped off with a run round the cabbage patch with UK.

Then back into training - 9 weeks of big mileage with no speedwork other than the parkruns and the odd couple of other races. Mileage for this 9 weeks will be in the region of 100,100,80,100,100,80,100,100,80.

That mileage base will then be taken into a strengthening phase which will incude one bulk interval session and one long rhythm run per week - average mileage 70-75 miles per week.

Finally, a short sharpening phase at around 60-65 miles per week consisting of speed intervals and several races at around 10K to 10 miles.

And then we'll see what sort of time that delivers...:D:D
