The WAVA for the training run was just an interesting observation when compared to Sunday's race!:D
Those threads are coming around with increasing regularity now - its almost time to get a new sport formed for those who have no intention of trying to run an event.
The GNR will probably be more than 60% filled with run/walkers (ie those who intend from the outset to walk big chunks) compared to 0% in 1990 (when you would have been embarassed to enter a running race with such a plan).
So where does it stop? 70%, 80%, 90%, 95%, 99%.
Its interesting that so many people see no problem with race after race going this way and competitiveness declining at the same time.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Im now moved up into the 'White' Zone, whatever that means..Think that means you can be in pens E-G which are the zone down from mine (B-D orange)...my advice get in pen E and use it as an excuse to run slowly for the first mile or so and then there should be enough room to breeze past peeps
Its chipped time anyway so shouldnt be too bad if you have to wait a little at the start!
I was told that 1hr 40mins and less is the orange groups, so im clearly not within that area.
White is good, might start towards the front of group G, just need to remember to start slow unlike wednesdays 10k race..
Must resist trying to catch the group in front up..0 -

Well done Poor on your hills, enjoy your park run tomorrow and everyone else doing it. I promise I wouldn't have drown the kids, maybe the parents instead!
Well done EC on your new longest run.
Glad you're back to 'normal' Rich!
Becky, I don't think that some people understand the concept that there are people who actually want to run a race and maybe even get a good time! I can understand that walking during a race might be a possibility if you get an injury or not having trained enough but where there are several people walking and blocking the way for those running then I agree that this is not fair on those who do want to run.0 -
"could anyone tell me me why runners think they are more superior to run/walkers ?"
