Evening all, it's been such a pants day weather wise that I thought I'd be running in the rain but it brightened up nicely by the evening. I went for a short quick run and was pleased with pace and comfortableness of run.

Today was originally planned to be an interval session but with 3 races in the next 11 days, all at 10K or under, it seemed that there was little value to be gained from such a session.

It was far more useful to try to get Sunday's disaster put to bed by getting a rhythm (or tempo) run done over a significant distance to prove the leg strength was still there.

And what a great decision that was.:D It was an incredible session in the circumstances - 10 miles in 1:08:58 on a very hilly course on a pulse of 104 has well and truly assigned Sunday's race to the rubbish bin.:p More surprising was the 5 mile splits of 34:24 and 34:34, all the serious climbing is in the second half so to cover it in 34:34 on a low pulse is a real confidence booster.:D

There's definitely something wrong when you can run a higher WAVA on a steady tempo run on a hilly course than on a flat course in a race! Just shows the dehydrating effects of that orange ball in the sky.

    Hi all.

Rich - I think I should book you as my coach for my marathon next year (venue tbc), you are going some aren't you? Or maybe I should book Becky as she lives closer to me :D.

Chick - you did how many hills ? I can just about do 6 on a Thursday and they are probably little gradients in comparison to yours :T

Despite the few niggles and non-running folk it stills seems like there's been lots of outdoor stuff going on. Unfortunately I can't say I've improved since Sunday as I didn't get to the club speed session this evening No reason really other than sheer laziness and spending way too much time online :o.

On the other hand, my Freecycle efforts are bearing fruit as I've got someone arriving shortly to collect an item and one mystery shopping expedition of a few weeks ago has resulted in the money arriving this evening :j:j

I've got 5 running weeks til my Eden Project marathon and one of those weekends I'll be away so will have to do that long run on a weekday evening

    Oh Cadbury's Creme Eggs :eek::eek:

evab - blackberries just jammed up this evening - have a virtual jar on me! On the pain in the foot, I've just read the taping up advice and realised that concurs with what I used to do when I lived in a climbing area of the country. Zinc tape round the fingers to keep the tendons etc. in place if they were a bit tweaked.

Another run, another six miles. Achieved in 55:50 today at 9:17/mile. Pleased with that. My slow and faster (note, not fast! ;) ) paces are converging again so I decided to inject some mid run pace today. Worked out quite well and didn't hurt the legs or lungs too much!

Total for the week = 12 miles.

Thanks for the offer red.. :)

But at £60 im not that keen... and becky it was part of the "prize" you won a place "which you then had to pay for then pay a £20 donation to charity while you are at it" Crazy i know...............i seen the comp but decided against entering because of the ruels... i still hold out hope for a last min bargin on entry :D

While at the gigs mind i was more bothered about people standing on my toes during the jumping about... was thinking OMG what if i brake a toe and no marathon.. :D

still a bit blooded and sore but nothing to bad :)

3 miles this morning (8.48/mile) :-) Been 5 days since I last ran due to pain in my foot- was aware of gentle ache whilst running today but wasn't painful so carried on, and feels fine now. Running my long run tomorrow morning as mum off to Cornwall, and we try and do long runs together as keeps us motivated.

£60 for a race!!!!-I'm paying £10 for marathon and that includes transport from finish to start as not a circular route.

  • Wouldn't pay £60 for a race in the UK (although probably have). Some of the foreign marathons are hitting that sort of price range. Doing the Goofy Challenge along with a few others in Florida in Jan and that cost $311 so around £160-180 for a half + full marathon.
Was looking at one called "Tough Guy" yesterday and that seems to be £110 to enter!
