Interesting talk on lubing up ;)

I dont bother normally unless its hot and also a long run. Inner legs and !!!! are my main hotspots, never really suffered to much from nipple rub. I nearly always have my lycra shorts on under my normal shorts which cuts down on the rubbing alot. Did try lycra only underneath, lets just say not a good idea ;)

Wow its quiet on here! Becky and Rich must be otherwise engaged.... ;)

Went out tonight to tackle some hills. I am determined not to let hills get the better of me so I decided to get stuck in and do some hill-specific training. There is a quite steep hill about 200m long a mile and a half away from my home so I ran slowly there as a warm up, then did a session where I ran up the hill, jogged back down and walked around for 30 seconds before repeating. I repeated this 10 times. Unfortunately I decided to take a different route home and got hopelessly lost in a nearby housing estate where all the roads look the same. :o I ended up doing just over 6 miles in total, but I thought that was OK for a first hill session.

To be honest, I enjoyed it more than I expected to, so I'll definitely do it again.

It doesnt look like its been that quiet - loads of different posters which is good to see plus far more consistency from the regular posters than we've seen before which can only mean two things....more enjoyment and lots of PBs on the way!:D

Yep, otherwise engaged yesterday, which was a rest day anyway. Plenty walking around involved and not a hint of the half marathon the day before...which confirms that it was purely dehydration in that burning sun that was the issue, so no worries at all.

After the half marathon incident, Becky went from limping at a snail's pace at 10pm on Sunday to being completely fixed by 9am on Monday...so no lasting damage done there and an interval session planned for today, trust the body to fix itself and it usually does!:D

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I had another collission with a dog during the race, a Golden Labrador. So thats twice in about 2 months despite it never having happened before, which means that either the dogs are getting dozier or I am..........

    Morning all!

Will read back in a while - hope everyone had a good weekend :D

Spent yesterday tour guiding again via a number of our good London pubs - so was feeling pretty tired this morning even though I didnt drink that much!

Went out to have a crack at intervals - did a 3 mile warm-up (30:25) to see what my leg was like and it was fine so injected some pace and ran mile 1 at 7:50 but just didnt have the legs for more so decided to jog back 1.5 miles (15:19)

All in all then 5.5 miles in 53:44 which I am happy enough with - I'm going to save my mile reps for next week though rather than skipping them - am sure when I'm not so tired I can have a good crack at the 7:45s

    Happy running all!

Good to see you both back. I hope you enjoyed your [STRIKE]pub crawl[/STRIKE] sigtseeing tour of the capital. Also very pleasing to see that neither of you appear to have suffered any serious ill effects from Sunday's horrible race.

I'm planning to meet up with the ladies tonight to do a 'looping back' run . Well, It's not the looping back that really appeals to me, but I promised to lend my portable DVD player to a friend who has two kids and is driving to Cornwall on Saturday, so its more of a mercy dash really. ;)

See you all later. I have a meeting to go to.

A wee bit slower at 61mins but felt very good very strong as if i could increase my speed at any time but taking Becky & Rich advice (good to see yous back by the way!!) keeping it slow as I will hopefully keep the speed for my 10k on Sunday week!!

Tried plasters on my nipples this morning but they came off at some point and boy are they sore now!!!!!

Could always try Zinc Oxide tape as that usually sticks very well or get some surgical tape.

Hmm, I've just had an email from the Telegraph...
You are one of the lucky Daily Telegraph readers to be offered one of the last remaining places for the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon, sponsored by Brakes.
Now I remember entering the competition for some trainers etc but not for a place! It's still £60 anyway and I'm not up to a half yet, but if anyone else wants the link to enter give me a shout, I can't see anywhere that restricts it to me using it!

Still doing little 2-3 mile poddling about runs here and lots of walking, trying to build up strength so achilles doesn't get any worse. Not sure about the GYR at the moment, will see how the next couple of weeks go.

Sounds like everyone is getting on well! Hope the foot is OK Evab x
