    My OH has just set off on an 8 mile loop and I'm joining him for the second 8 mile loop! Hopefully by the time he's already done 8 miles he'll not be leaving me behind so much!

    Well done on your 20 miles Uk :D

    A disastrous run for me this morning :(

    It was already quite hot when I set out at 08.30 with the intention of running 18 miles and I knew by mile 3 that I wasn't settling into the run. I don't think that I was properly hydrated because by mile 6 I could feel my right calf starting to cramp a little. My pace was all over the place and I kept going too fast and having to slow myself down.

    At the half way point I knew that there was no way I was going to manage another 9 miles so I did the sensible thing and looped back. I carried on to 12 miles and then walked the last mile, or so, home.

    I've very disappointed not to have run the full 18 miles but have a rest day tomorrow so am going to drink as much as possible (water not alcohol :p) and, hopefully, will feel recovered for my fartlek session on Tuesday.

    Hope everyone else has a happier run than me today :D

    Ah sorry your run didn't go to plan, it's frustrating but at least you can recognise the problem and fix it for the next run.

    We have a lot to learn about ourselves and our running. This week I discovered that I'm getting some aches and pains on the side of my foot from my small toe to the arch, when I was running yesterday I concentrated on how my foot lands and I land quite balanced on my heel but I push off from the side of my foot where the aches have been so some rotation of the foot. Some padding needed there especially for long runs!

    I'm back! I did my furthest run yet! 8.23 miles in 1hr 46 outside with a long steady 3 mile hill at the end! :)

    GNR :eek::eek::eek:

    It's only 4 weeks away! There's been loads more runners about over the last couple of weeks. I still feel a bit daunted by the distance but am happier now that OH won't have to hang back with me cos my sis is going to run it too, and I think we have roughly the same pace as we seem to be doing similar distances in similar times! OH finished it last year is 1hr:40 whereas I'll be lucky to do 2hrs:50

    Hey Simply, sorry to read about your run. I've had that happen to me before and it's disheartening but you will come back from that.

    I've still not been out and am in 'declutter' mode whilst watching the athletics and the sun. Given that my 18 miles should take me almost 3 hours, I have my doubts that I'll make it outside this evening after all, which I feel bad about but not enough to beat myself up for.

    UK - oh my on your distance/time. Can I have your legs please? :D

    K_b - sounds like you are doing great. We tend to get caught up in wanting to do a good time, but enjoyment is just as important. Just do the best you can each time but allow for 'off times' also.
