Did 14.62 miles with my mum last night (11:00/mile) Felt good. After feeling demotivated past week or so- we set out and forced ourselves to start slow (not difficult considering we chatted the whole way!) Onward and upward
.
Next weeks schedule:
Mon 24/08 30mins threshold
Tues 25/08 steady 1hr
Wed 26/08 50min inc 8X100m hills
Thurs 27/08 Interval run 25mins inc 6x2min effort 4
Fri 28/08 Rest
Sat 29/08 15-16miles
Read the runnersworld posts- quite scary- how do you loose so much weight that quickly?! great that he wants to get fit- but loosing so much so quickly and putting his body though training for marathon after what sounds like little preparation seems crazy and dangerous. Great to have a goal to aim for but why not start with a 5k and take it from there? Wish him luck though (lots of it) and pray he does not end up with serious injury.(Family of 5: 2 adults & 3 children aged 7yrs, 4yrs, and 18months)0 -

Nice 20.12 mile run for me this morning in 2h39:13. Should have been a little faster but I got a stitch at 16 miles and had to walk it off - real pain those things. Had one 3 times this year and no idea why as my posture seemed fine and breathing wasn't overly bad.0

I am happy with todays run, it felt much more comfortable then Thursdays run.

I have got to say that you are all truely inspirational! I can't imagine ever getting up to running so far in a week! (Mind you if you had told me 7 weeks ago that I would be able to run 4m I would have laughed at you!)
Thanks for all the advice & support this week xFollowing :money: to keep us debt free :j0 -

Add about 45 mins to that and you've got my average marathon performance! Just can't seem to run at a comfortable steady pace at all and end up far slower than I should be.0

Right you seasoned runners, bearing in mind that the farthest I've run is 8 miles, I need some top tips to help me prepare for the Great North Run in 4 weeks time
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
AND.....
Take a look at this for inspiration!

Good running 1Hannah, willstewart, and tq! Improbably slow rich
I thought I'd read the numbers wrong! Though how you run with a headache...!
Pleased (and tired) to report some new milestones :j 14.1 miles done this morning in 2:21:32 (10:01/mile). A new longest distance. A much improved pace on my previous runs over 11.5 miles. And a new high weekly total. Took it steady and it felt nice until about 10 miles. The last four were harder work and the pace dropped a bit for those. Basically any hills slowed me down as my legs were protesting but I wasn't going to give up - not having done the previous miles!
Total for the week = 32.65
Apologies bank - I have no words of wisdom to offer for the GNR.
Enjoy your runs those of you still to head out!0
