I would say Heaton Park will become a regular-ish event - with Leeds and Wimbledon being the standard runs but I can imagine Manchester being once every 4-6 weeks if its a decent course!:D

I'm not too far from Manchester, so I could pop over every now and again to meet up, have a run and a chat. A regular 5k to check progress sounds like a great idea.

Becky - hope you had a good time at your sister's wedding, it's my turn on Saturday :j As it only starts at 4pm we have decided that we will be going for a wedding day run in the morning. How cool is that? :D

    LIMITED TIME OFFER!!!:D

On the basis that the Parkruns are FREE and nothing else is, there is a rare opportunity to run a half marathon for FREE this coming Sunday.

I have a fully paid entry for the Freckleton Half on Sunday, which is in Becky's name but fully transferrable as the organisers prefer transfers to no-shows.

First come, first served............Chick, how do you fancy letting that marathon kickback have a good run out on a flat local half marathon?

Im back home now, did not managed to get out running again. All this free beer & spending 12hours stood in the sun giving out posters, leaflets.

Trying to get out today about 2pm for a nice simple 3 miler, have this week & next week free before im off again with work. So will try to get a few 8milers in to press things further.

No results from the 2 road races through yet. Would be nice to know how im doing in them.
  • Thanks for everyone’s kind comments.

Rich - I am not concentrating on speed but just to get the miles in I know speed will come with consistency!!

I will not be taking speed into account until I complete my 10k at least!!

Just running again and completing miles is good enough for me at the moment.

All the advice I get is good is give me more motivation to get out there and do more!!
  • A few days into the third week of my 10K training schedule and it's going OK... i think. I've been doing 3 or 4K runs 3 times a week and then hitting a longer distance on sundays when I have more time. I managed 7K last Sunday so I'm quite pleased with that (my longest distance without stopping to date). I had planned to get up to 10K gradually over 8 weeks but if I can manage 7K in week 3 then I might get there sooner than anticipated :)

But (why is there always a 'but'?!) since Sunday I've been feeling the effects of the long run. My legs are feeling achey and my motivation appears to be dwindling a little. I had expected to feel really great after my 7K and excited to hit the treadmill again the next day, but instead I felt tired and lethargic  I spent 45mins at the gym yesterday but didn't run, and my scheduled 4K for tonight is looking a bit unlikely too. Here's hoping I can pick myself up again and stay on track. I've worked hard to get to this point and I don't want to let it just slip away.

:rotfl:so sorry Uk, it's coming up to lunch time i'm sure they'll all be sleepy again once they've got full tums, lol.

Sorry for my sudden disappearance folks, but the boss appeared which meant i've actually had to do some work  but the thought of a monthly/6weekly dfw 5k has cheered me up :D:D:D:D:D but bear in mind folks, my 5k time currently stands at just under an hour lol :o really need to make the jump from walking to jogging (and for more than 1k).

oooooooo first it's 5ks, and little meets, why not organise a full blown MSE marathon???

Miss_cupcake - I really think you should try some running outside - a bit of change of scenery might get you back into it a little :D

But also running 5 days a week is tough on your body so if its telling you to take a rest then do it - you'll be back with renewed enthusiasm before you know it :D
