UK - So you completely c-ocked up the pacing, then!!!;) So what you're saying is that not only did you blast your PB into another county you could easily have gone quicker if you hadn't been so intent on testing the limit of your lungs in the first 5K.;);)

Simply & Krider - Sounds like you had very similar weeks and similar runs today. Well done to both of you - clearly both enjoying the progress you're making!:D

Chickadee - That is some going, but no surprise tbh. We knew that you were starting to get your marathon kickback from your run the other day; So that coupled with no breakfast set your body up nicely to take on whatever you threw at it. To be running at 57min 10K pace on a hilly 10 miler in training means you must be in the ballpark of delivering a sub 50 10K in the next few weeks.

Well you cant run 1:36 in the way you did today, in only your second race, and not be capable of getting down to 1:20 or maybe better.

And I haven't seen any runners exploding in half marathons yet so your fears may be a little unfounded!:p

Thanks Rich, yes I'm definitely finding a kick from somewhere. I think there's also an element of confidence playing a part too. For example, today my head was saying 'slow down a bit' so I checked: legs - feeling OK; lungs - feeling OK, result - no, don't slow down, keep it up! Hopefully I'll be able to continue this and find an improvement for my 10k and my half-marathon.

    Excellent!!:D

And that is the key - the more regular the training the more that confidence builds.

Its interesting that you mention the checklist - I did exactly the same checks yesterday. Still in the first km I was in 12th place and thought to myself 'I'm not usually as high as 12th at this stage of the race, am I going quicker than I thought? Legs - OK, Lungs - OK, Everything else - OK. Right, lets get after these guys in front then..........':D

There's no ifs and buts really - you will improve your times if you keep the regular training going to build another level of fitness/strength on top of your Prague build up!

Anyway, just going for the long Sunday run so I'll catch you all later.....

This scenario sounds scarily like the thing that would happen if I did manage to convince my OH to carry water. Navigation and timing not being his strong points :rotfl: Hope you managed to find each other (at home?) in the end without too much hassle!

Ha, ha, I found him sitting in the back garden waiting for me - I had the door key :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

You did well krider running 10:41/mile in the mid-day sun; it was hot enough when I got back at 10.30 hrs. I've got a 14 miler scheduled for next Sunday - think I'll need to go out really early for that one

Sammy - I'm sure once you have fully got over your cold you'll be back to full strength. It can take longer than you expect to shake a virus properly so don't beat yourself up if it doen't disappear overnight.

:TI am begining to comprehend how becky felt when she was poorly...I have missed my running so thought I would give it a go...has knocked me about a bit though.

Mindful of the fact that I am still walking a tightrope between being well trained and being over trained the mileage was cut back a bit today so as not to play about with The Wall too much. Also the pace was eased right back as well to give the body time to do its stuff!:D
