  • Mid morning all.

Becky glad to see that your running is coming back to the form that you had before.

Rich, your always full of interesting facts and figures!!

Well i managed to do the bleep test this morning, was a bit worried to be truthful as id only been doing long steady runs nothing like the bleep test, but still managed to pass the damn thing got up to 9.11, 21 pressups and 36 situps in a minute each.

So my training is paying off as even though i felt knackered i still manged to push myself to the pass mark with out any really difficulty.

Hopefully get out tonight for a nice steady run to relax the legs.

Glad to hear you past no problems JJ :D

Thats the thing though - even if you run every training run at much slower pace you are building your stamina to run at higher speeds over longer distances :D

Sorry as always it comes across wrong via teh interweb! I wasn't defending charity places but jsut saying in my case the charity sponsorship comes second. I think that having places taken up by charity runners is not good in the long term for these events and it would actually annoy me if other big events went the way of London mara. I'm definately not doing any more Race for Lifes, as I get to know North Wales a bit more I'm finding more races organised by the local clubs. Anyway back to running :D

r.e. running in the dark, if I HAVE to go out in the dark then I wear a reflective jacket and tell my dh my route and eta home. I stick to my plans and always stay on the main roads.

It didnt come across as if you were defending charities and their actions, evab.

You are an example of how it should be. You enter an event and then, having secured your entry, you then choose to run for a charity of your choice because you are undertaking a significant challenge.

That is how it used to be and has no effect on diminishing the sport.

Another post on t'other forum which sums up a lot of people's feelings:

"I always feel mean about not wanting to sponsor people for whatever reason. Doesn't change the fact that I don't want to sponsor and I don't want to be asked to sponsor.
I have no desire to run London. I have no desire to run for charity. There are plenty of better runners out there than me some run for charity. Why should I fund someone elses hobby? It's expensive enough funding my own.
Don't actually think that there is anything wrong with a charity organising an event and getting a lot of people together to help raise money / awareness per se, just count me out and don't hijack events organised by others for other reasons. Bit like charity shops killing off old fashioned jumble sales. Bumping up the cost of a second hand pair of jeans from 20p to £5 or £10. Too many charities have become too coorporate in their out look and forgotten about grass routes. "

    That should get you fit!:D

Dont let UK see it though, that would only be classed as a minor undulation in Sheffield!;)
