To feel the general atmosphere building against charity involvement in running you may like to have a quick read of this thread:

Hmm, how long can it last? In the end, the 'one off' runners, prepared to fund raise will run out, the 'runners' need to stay away! At the moment, it's a marketing mans dream.0 -

Good morning all
Speed play for me today and my legs feel fine after Sundays run, a little tired but nothing out of the ordinary.
I hope everyone enjoys their running today.

Morning all
Today will be the first day of my training plan (thanks becky:T). I am looking at two possible races and wondered if anyone had done either of them and could give me their views
Blackpool 10m
http://www.ukforms.net/onlineforms/php/Applicant.php?EventID=340
Congleton 1/2
http://www.ukforms.net/onlineforms/php/Applicant.php?EventID=402
or be patient and do Lancaster which fits in better with my training plan
http://www.ukresults.net/online/091108lanc.html
such decisions or maybe do Blackpool & Lancaster?
I see lots of good running done over the last few days . I have all but dumped the mp3 player except for long runs I find it breaks rythm although i dont understand why people have it so loud they cant hear anything else
. I only ever put mine on low so i can still hear cars etc. The GF and I had a convo about full marathons and we(she:rotfl:) decided any full marathon would be abroad as part of a holiday a good way of avoiding the charity issue. Speaking of which there were guys in scope vests doing the iron man uk which surprised me as i didnt think it was a charity sort of event.
Have a good day all

Morning All!
Still a bit chesty but got through 5 of my 6 planned reps then swallowed some dust (or maybe even a fly - yuck) and had to stop half way through the 6th one and decided to stop there...
So warm up mile in 9:05, 800m reps in 3:57, 3:54, 3:51, 3:56 and 3:55 and warm down in 12:05 (including some coughing stops
)
Still feeling good about that though because was tempted to do an easy session today but I got all 5 below 4 minutes without killing myself - am sure the 6th would have been under as I was just past 200m on 1:12 which is about normal for me
Happy running all!0 -
I'm raising money for charity but it's under my terms, no minimum amount to raise and I would still run even if I didn't raise any money.0

It looks like your powers of recovery are working well, Simply. To brush off a half marathon and carry on as normal shows that you're toughening up well.
Good luck with the start of your training, KYCU.
Nice intervals, Becky. So sunday was just a minor blip by the looks. Can you post a list of your previous interval sessions so that we can see the pattern?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Didnt get out at all since last tuesday when I did my 6.65 miler as I went out with works mates on Friday and suffered all weekend (I am getting to old for too much drink!!)
Got out this morning and only did 3.1 miles got it tough enough but my time was 26.58 which is on course for sub 55 mins 10k!!
Hopefully get out tomorrow morning and do my 6.65 miler as my 10k event is next wednesday evening!!
By doing 6.65 tomorrow is this too close to the event?
Also, this morning at 5am it was nearly dark and I live in the country with no street lights or footpaths. Does anyone run in the winter mornings where ther are no street lights or footpaths?? Is this a good idea?0 -
I did the same evab last year - I dont have a problem with people raising money - its the fact that in some races now you have to raise money to get a place which just seems vastly unfair...0
