You take it all in your stride now - onwards and upwards.

    Drizzle is good!:D

You're right; it's funny how your attitude changes as you gain confidence - it was only an 8 mile midweek run this morning. ;)

I like drizzle - drizzle is our friend!! :D

This is the race that is shaping up for Mo Farah's attempt on breaking 13:00 at Crystal Palace next Friday evening. A good collection of 5K runners but I'm not sure that there is enough opposition to push him along...he may have to front run this from quite a way out....

hmm have decided not to run today as it's blowing a gale, would be stupid to go out. So resting my legs before my long run tomorrow. Where's the summer gone?

    Hi all,

I've just had my "testimonial" footie game with my work team. We won 5-1 and I signed off with a peach of a goal, which was nice. It's my last day at work and I have now have no more work to do. Leaving drinks tonight, which should be a laugh.

I've played 2 footie games this week after a 6 week absence and my muscles ache a bit (in my arms/back as well). I'd have thought my "ticking over" runs would have kept the muscles used to it, but I obviously get more of a "Fartlek" benefit from the 5-a-side than I realised. Maybe that's why my speed hasn't increased dramatically, despite the continuing weight loss.

I'm starting a new job on Monday, so I don't know how often I'm going to be able to check in here. I might just post in bursts that are quite far apart!

May be doing the Wimbledon parkrun tomorrow, but it depends on how many drinks I can dodge tonight. My (soon to be ex) colleagues have a habit of getting you a drink even if you explicitly say you don't want one. I shouldn't complain really, but I always end up drinking much more than I intended!

Have fun at your drinks BT...try not to be too rough :p

This is interesting wonder if it holds out for long distances too:

It says he looked at all world records but the example given is of course the 100m!

Took advantage of working from home (and starting work at 7:50am) to do a LSR at lunchtime today. 11.85 miles in 2:05:39 (10:36/mile). Nice and steady almost all the way round (steep/sustained hill in mile 6 raised that split to 11:02 but that was the slowest). Rained on for the second hour - lovely :D and missed the thunder which arrived about ten minutes after I got home :D

Total for the week = 28.85 miles

One of the more relaxed LSRs I've had in the last month or so. And after feeling deep muscle ache Wednesday night and yesterday after my hard runs earlier this week and the race last week means I'm doubly pleased.

Just an 8 miler Simply... :p Enjoy the leaving do beer tins - and good luck for the new place. Some good running going on and enjoy those weekend LSR chaps. And UK - you only do mad races don't you?! :p
