Very fascinating - did I read that bit right - hes only 28 :eek: shave that beard off man you look ancient
I know - he looks like a 60s throwback!
Whats this about marathon runners shaving their legs!:rotfl:I think you'd struggle to find one tbh.
Interesting to read the 325 mile 12 days cycle, including a 191 mile week. This may be abnormal in one sense but David Bedford, the London Marathon race director, was regularly doing that sort of mileage when he broke the 10,000m world record.
And of course it is well known that Paula does around 150mpw.
I think he would be a good bit better if he knew how to rest a bit more!Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Got out last night and did my 6.65 miler in my quickest time yet 58.53 min!!!
Can anyone roughly tell me min miles I am doing?
I felt really good and the conditions were perfect expect for the headwind in the last 1.5 mile of the runs but cooled me down none the less!!
I had my heart monitor on for the first, didnt really add anything only advised me that I had burnt 1134.70 calories and 143.96 fat burn average hrt rate was 149 bpm.
Not going to use it again as I dont really know how to use it - the stopwatch is good for me for another while!!
Cant wait until my first 10k on the 12/08 now should be good to get offical time and finish my first race!!0 -
E.C - That equates to 8:52/mile, so a nice swift pace if you were feeling good. Clearly seeing improvements....Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

149 bpm :eek: that cant be right can it Rich??
Did you feel you were putting in lots of effort E.C?
Well done on a great run though - you may well go under 55 mins in race conditions - is it flat?0 -

Rich sorry if i am being stupid here but how did you work that out for future reference??:o0 -

Sorry may my average hrt rate was 124.5 bpm would that sound better??
If not thats why I am not wearing the hrt monitor again not to sure how it works??
In relation to effort levels, I had enough energy left to increase my pace for the last 0.5 mile and a wee kick towards the end!!
Not to sure if the 10k I will doing is flat but the route I do now consists of 3 fairly steep hills and 2 gradual inclines so its a good route!!0 -

Assuming 58.53 means 58:53 then it is just:
Pace = 58.83/6.65 = 8.86 mins/mile or 8:52/mile
If 58.53 actually means 58.53 minutes then it is:
Pace = 58.53/6.65 = 8.80 mins/mile or 8:48/mileGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

124 sounds better - 149 for the whole run would be a bit impressive, but then Chick's has been 160 before I think...sometimes those monitors arent very accurate tbh!
Thats good news about increasing the pace towards the end
To work out mins/mile you simply divide the time in minutes so 58:53 over the distance so 6.65 = 8.80 (decimal) then you divide 60/100 and mutiply by 80 (or whatever that bit at the end is x 100) = 48 = 8:48
Hey Rich where did you get 52 seconds from?? Were you guesstimating? Ah yes I see I need to convert the seconds into decimal first...but isnt it then 58.88??0 -

Yes, it was a guestimate!
So it may be 8:51/mile!! Happy now??:rolleyes::rolleyes:
