Someone on here mentioned mapmyrun.com, well, a work colleague logged on today and showed me his history and how to sign up. OMG! He only runs 1.25 miles every other evening, and goes as slow as I do over my 3.6/7 miles!!!

Now I was looking up to this guy - thought he was a pro runner!!! No more, I'm well in his league. Bit nasty of me, but so satisfying on the quiet!

And I'd never thought of logging my weeks mileage, what a satisfying idea that is too.

Oh, I'm so loving this! I even wondered if you can go watch the runs at Crystal Palace? Not far from me.

Well its always a good idea to use a training diary - log miles, type of session and how it felt and you can then go back and see how the work is bedding down later or use it to try and replicate sucessful training periods :D

Rich has loads of the things but I think he uses this place now ;), I use an excel spreadsheet - planned vs actual.

Another good thing to keep time of is your race times - especially when you are doing weekly races like parkrun as even though it feels like you arent progressing sometimes - over 3-4 months you will be more than you thought :D

Well done to K_rider thats some more great running - are you aiming for plus 30 miles this week??

Yeah, when I was losing weight having the monthly totals of calories and miles was really motivational.

And finding out you're better than other people is always good :D

The moment of realisation that you are a "real" runner is great. You can already run further than the majority of this country! Onwards and upwards!

Nope - I aim for between 25 and 30 across four runs, with one LSR amongst that. Was 25 ish last week, and 32 (my highest yet) the week before. (Another use for training logs ). Sometimes do some rebounding to stretch the legs out the day after a LSR too.

Total for the week = 28.85 miles

One of the more relaxed LSRs I've had in the last month or so. And after feeling deep muscle ache Wednesday night and yesterday after my hard runs earlier this week and the race last week means I'm doubly pleased.

Just an 8 miler Simply... :p Enjoy the leaving do beer tins - and good luck for the new place. Some good running going on and enjoy those weekend LSR chaps. And UK - you only do mad races don't you?! :p

It sounds as though you enjoyed that run krider; another good steady pace too. :T The Monaco Marathon UK has his eye on looks great; wouldn't mind giving that a go!!!

bj-sailaway - I keep a training log too - it's very motivating to look back at your previous runs and see how far you've progressed :D

Competitive Becky?? We don't know what you mean - surely it's the taking part that counts :rotfl::rotfl:

I did feel a bit mean, being so gleeful that I'm out running him, I guess in the past almost anyone doing any running or weights would impress me, but hey, I'm up there and overtaking them - woo hoo! Still a newbie, but slowly climbing the ranks. Once I can average 10.3 pace I may brave a park run, after all, I don't want them waiting for me to finish so they can go get their lunch! ha ha!

So, the goal is that Roundshaw park run - soon - hopefully very soon!

"I'm faster than simon, I'm faster than simon" - Oh dear, it's all getting a bit nasty isn't it!!

BTW I also found out today that my bodyfat % is 2% lower than one of my 'superfit' friends - OMG, this is so gratifying - I'm gonna have no friends left if I keep smirking like this!!!

Now, tomorrow I want to run, but I don't want to miss Bodypump, shall I run real early and go to bodypump at 9.30am straight after, or shall I bodypump and then run in the afternoon? hmm?

    Hi All,

I too am giving my legs a rest tonight. After nearly 3 weeks on inactivity I did 5K on Sunday, 4 miles on Tuesday and was aiming for 4 miles last night but after 3.5 miles my hips were really sore (doesn't help being overweight :o ) so I packed in and did 5K on the exercise bike. Although prior to the 3.5 miles I walked for .3 of a mile to calibrate the Nike plus on the walk setting, and then jogged for.3 of a mile to calibrate the run setting so I guess distance wise I did do the 4 miles but I can't help feeling disappointed.

On the plus side I've lost 9lbs this week on my first week following a sensible eating plan :T I realise most of it will be water and am aiming for 1-2lb per week loss

Blustery and wet but apart from that perfect weather for a gentle run.:p
Its always interesting when the wind decides that you're going to run in a direction that you didnt necessarily request to!!

Anyway, felt okay so there may well be a decent effort in the legs ready for tomorrow morning at Heaton Park and that 18:23 may be within reach... or then again it may still be a little ambitious but it doesnt do any harm trying.

It will also be good if Becky can get back into sub 27 minute territory. Based on last week I would say that that it is pretty likely but it will be the first time that she has run the course, so there is that little unknown to contend with.
