Another 5k completed today. Pleased with myself because this afternoon I felt REALLY tired and lethargic. I could barely drag my bum off the sofa, I just had no energy. But I reluctantly put on my running gear and headed out. Within a few mins I'd completely forgotten about feeling tired and relaxed into the run, it was actually really enjoyable :j
Question: How long does it realistically take to train for a marathon? I'm a fairly newbie runner (approx 30k a week) but I was thinking today, I'd absolutely love to have a goal of completeing a marathon! I find I need goals like that to keep me motivated with my running.0 -
Wow Becky, you look so relaxed in that photo. I like the way that both you and the other runner are smiling - it must have been an enjoyable race.
Well done for getting out there when you didn't really feel like it miss_cupcake. :T Sorry I can't help with your question about marathon training; I'm sure one of our experts will be along with some advice shortly.2021 MFW No.18 £9900/£10,000Mortgage at 21.07.20 £178,999 Mortgage today £150,8910 -
Im looking to do a bit of clothes shopping in the next week for winter.
Looking for 'mens running tights', those that keep the legs warm as i cant go back to longjohns & tracksuit bottoms, past that stage me thinks.
Was looking on wiggle (here - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/c/run/8/Tights_-_Run/)
Cant be sure which ronhills to buy, blue or the black ones..
Which one would you pick, less than £20 as want to pick up 2 pairs.0 -
Is everyone out running??
Black Alias - mucho flattering0 -

Miss_cupcake - it took me 10 months of hard training (up to 6 days and 45 miles a week) to go from a beginner to running a 4:30 marathon to give you an idea - why dont you try training for a half first and see if you enjoy it? Then you can progress from there0 -

Well that was a blustery, leg sapping run - it was so windy!!!
OH came with me on his bike and we explored some new extensions to my usual route. Got slightly lost around mile 3 and had to run a couple of miles along coastal trails, ending up with about 1/4 mile along a sea wall (which ran out after going up and down steps under a pier) and about 100 metres along a pebbly beach. :rotfl::rotfl: I then added a lap of a recreation ground for good measure - it looked fairly flat from the road but I soon found out otherwise. It was good fun though and got us away from the noise of the traffic for a while.
Alias - I agree with Becky, definitely the black.

Hi all been out for something between 6 and 7 miles - wasnt feeling it at all and was very thirsty so decided to quit while ahead and get some rest for next week
Was out for 1:10 and am pleased with the flow on the hills - just didnt have much left in the legs!
Left Rich out in the rain getting a nice soaking
Simply are you getting excited about the Stur Half and the marathon now??0
