Talking about records did anyone see meseret defar run the 10km on sunday? she was in super form and managed to lap everyone except the second place lady. a 10,000m race in 29.59 is somewhat impressive.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0

It is when you consider that the British best in 2009 is 33:10 and only 18 British women have managed sub 40:00 in 2009. And remember that track times are fatser than road times due to 'energy return', spikes and exact zero elevation profile.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
Blackpool Marathon 11/4/2010 (Target=2:59:59) (6:52/mile)
Abingdon Marathon 17/10/2010, (Target=2:48:57) (6:27/mile)

"track is flat" to you and me;)
Only 18 British Women on sub 40:00 times this year? That says a lot about the lack of depth in British distance running, don't you think? I know we bring this one up all the time!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Womens is worse than men atm depth wise - its seriously depressing
But in a way its pretty exciting - it means for me I can aim for a sub 40 in a year or two and I might be winning races then(I know it wont be world standard but to win a race would be soooo exciting!)

wouldnt it be interesting if a track had bumps in it? would make for an interesting race!!! how many runners would blame the bumps for them not winning???Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0

I think some training tracks that I ran on in my youth did! :rotfl:Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Just to give an idea of comparisons between parkruns and track equivalent times:
Adam Grice has won the Leeds parkrun three times in the last 3-4 months with a best time of 15:18, which was seriously impressive. However, his best time on the track was 14:08 a couple of weeks ago at Stretford.
I was convinced there was more than a minute difference and this seems to back it up.:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Thats quite a gap from road to track. never really ran on a track, was thinking of joining the local running club but im unsure if id be fast enough to train with them.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0

One of those times he won though he did a 10 mile warm up so he was bound to be a little out from his track 5k0
