Morning All!
I am stiff after my race yesterday - top of thighs - avoiding stairs at all costs today
How is everyone else feeling after all their long runs and hard work at the weekend?? Rich have you amended the race calendar with our new plans0 -
Morning all,
Had a good run yesterday, managed to get 12.4miles under my belt, 2:03:53. And it was a constant run, no stopping so very happy as on the half i had to stop and walk for a while. The legs feel a little bit heavy today but thats nothing new given the distance that i got to.
Excellent timings for everyone welldone.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -

Well done on the run JJ, keep doing steady runs like that and you're half time will come down dramtically

Any new races that need adding/amending - let me know and I'll make the necessary changes!
Black = Completed Races.
Blue = Planned Races.
The blue figures next to the results are the WAVA age grading percentage followed by the relevant world record to which the time is being compared.
With age grading everyone is on an equal footing - the score takes out any advantage/disadvantage due to age and any advantage/disadvantage due to being male/female.
So whatever your age or sex if you score 52% it is better than another person's 51% regardless of their age/sex.
So what are the scores? They are quite simply a measure of your performance compared to the person who holds the world record for that distance in your age group and of your gender.
Clearly some of the WRs are out of date, but there has to be a stable basis on which to calculate otherwise the gradings would need to be re-computed every time a WR changes.
So, in simple terms your WAVA rating is:
Your time is 4 x World Record 25.00%
Your time is 2 x World Record 50.00%
Your time is 1.5 x World Record 66.67%
Your time is 1.25 x World Record 80.00%

Good running everyone!
I didn't do the parkrun on Saturday in the end. My wife persuaded me to stay in bed instead!
So just plodding along from me since the corporate challenge. And during the corporate challenge too, for that matter!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -
Saw someone on Sat at Leeds who had the corporate challenge tee on - he had to quit on the first lap (shin splints apparently when I asked him if he was okay)0

Doesn't mean anything though. I know for a fact that a lot of people did little more than walk or maybe jog and get in the way! I think they should have starting pens for various target times. People who get nowhere near their time should not be allowed to start right at the front again in subsequent years!Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

No I know I just thought it was interesting - wonder if he got them overtraining for the event (he looked fitish poor bloke)...
I agree though - you can have 13,000 people go round battersea without some sort of pen system really :rolleyes:0 -

I think you would find it virtually impossible to police.
The key is to avoid 'races' where this kind of thing is likely to happen. You're usually paying twice as much for the pleasure of being crowded anyway. I know the Corporate Challenge is a different scenario because it was a works entry but it is becoming more of a problem generally.
As Becky will confirm, yesterday's race was far more pleasant because everyone was there to do their best, whatever that may be, and totally considerate of others and their aims - you get no hassle when that is the case.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
