Its all going fine - its just about mid-way through the long marathon build up and there has just been a period of two races per week pretty much every week. So last week was just a little pause to gather everything together ready for the big push - all the key sessions were still in there, just the steady miles stripped out.

But this week is going to include 4 speed sessions (of which 2 are races) so needed a breather in advance!:D

Sunday will be okay - probably about 1:03, but that will be fine as it will be comfortably the best 10 miles so far if that is the case.

So how come getting married makes you faster? It might be worth a go if it works!!!:p:p

Oooh, you heard it here first folks!! :p;)

I don't know, but tonight I just felt happy to be alive - yes, I know, pass the sick bag. Sorry! I have really missed running and I just wanted to get out there and give it stacks, so I did, but only for three miles, then I reverted to a plod.

Hope you enjoyed your little breather last week.Good luck for Sunday. I know you're a Yorkshire bloke, but come on! 1:03 as a target for 10 miles is a little better than 'okay'!

Hehe I was only asking - it would have to be worth at least a minute a mile to be worth it though.;)

Nothing wrong with being happy to be alive - lets have more of it is what I say!:D:D

I know, I know (:p) - but in my head I'm still doing 55mins/56mins so to get back I cant get too carried away with 1:03, I've got to see it as just a stepping stone on the way back.:D

Welcome back, chick! If you remember, I posted up pics of my wedding after I got back from honeymoon last year. HINT HINT! Good luck getting back into it.

The corporate challenge was... interesting! Not sure what my time was yet, but I think around 28-29 minutes. not good! Didn't cross the start line until about 7 minutes in  There were just far too many people to get past. Some people walking from the start, a lot of very slow runners. Especially frustrating are the groups of 3 (almost always women, sorry but it's true!) running/walking abreast so no one can pass and the people who walk, but don't move to the side to do so. At a few points (like after the Thames path) the path narrowed and everything literally stopped while everyone shuffled through. I put on a sprint at the end, only to stop dead at the wall of people and shuffle over the line in about a minute!

Shame, because it's a really nice course and I could see myself getting a good time there without the crowds! Will post more details (and my time once I know it) later...

Awww Beertins that sounds annoying :(, I hate races where people dont adhere to the usual etiquite - Rich has been having a similar problem with 3 abreast walkers at the Leeds parkrun - I think race organisers should make a point of telling people its fine to walk if you want too but remember other people are racing (although they do at Leeds but everyone talks over the start so they dont hear it *rolls eyes*)

At least you did it though - how did the team do as a whole do you know??
  • KYCU reporting in (Ive been lurking;)) Did 5.30m in 1hr dead last night and it felt good the leg is all better just a bit of an ache now and then so training is about to resume with a new intensity!

The GF is taking up running again :rotfl: However I dont think we will run together much as im far fitter than her now (I ran the first 0.75 of a mile with her last night). Shes in a panic because we go away to south of france in a few weeks!

    Will be running again tonight.

I'm not surprised that was the scenario, BT.

I just couldn't see how just short of 13,000 runners could get round a course like that without a LOT of congestion.

It okay at the front, as can be seen by the winner's 4:41/mile pace but it almost becomes pointless after the first 500.

As Becky said we can have the same problems in fields of 200 in the parkruns on very similar courses so 13,000 is a ridiculous entry limit unless its run on wide roads.

Dont knock training with GF - Rich is wayyyyy faster than me but the bits I run with him are great warm ups for the rest of his runs :D:D
  • I never got out last night as I was working late!!

Hopefully get out tonight for my new run which I did on Tuesday evening
6.3 miler(59.57 min) really chuffed with this time!!!!

I know Rich & Becky will state not to worry about the time when attempting longer/newer routes but its hard not too!!

I am now hoping to do my 10k in September within the hour maybe around
    55-57 mins??

That 'bit' was 8.5 miles last Sunday and has been up to 20 miles.

So much of the benefit of a run is unrelated to speed that it really doesn't matter - a week's training should include a whole range of different speeds anyway.

But it is only this little period during the recovery that the paces are slower - it will soon get back to me saying 'slow down - this is too quick'.:D:p
