Ooo didnt realise it was the first 8 evab - wow go you
Simply - its your body catching up is all - you have to have these weeks or wouldnt appreciate the good ones
Its only a problem if it goes on for more than 4 weeks or so or the calf gets worse...niggles are fine - injuries not good!0 -
Hopefully Becks, we'll see how it goes!0

Hello everyone, remember me? I'm back, and I'm now a Mrs!
We had a brilliant day and a lovely honeymoon up in Sunny Scotland (yes it was!) Haven't had time to catch up on all that has been said recently but just from my quick glance it looks like there is some great running going on here!
I haven't been keeping up with the running whilst I've been away - other activites got in the way iykwim. Ate far too much - omg the seafood was amazing!
Anyway, I'm back and have been running tonight - yay! Did 6m whilst DS was playing footy. Felt really good for the first 3 miles and when I checked my watch I was doing 8:20 to 8:30 pace, so I decided to slow it down a bit and was back in 55 mins. I'm feeling really good right now. I just remembered why I love running so much :j.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

We missed you!!!0 -

He he, don't worry, it didn't last long! Had to reign it back in on the way back or else I would have had to walk home. I just felt so good to be running, the weather was good - not too hot, and I was really up for it, so I went with it for a bit and opened up.
No reason for you to grumble anyway, you weren't far off that pace for 9 miles! Good luck on Sunday for Eccup. 10 miles is your fave distance isn't it? I like 10-milers too. 10k is a bit short but 1/2 mara is a lot of effort!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

OK, thanks for all the advise guys - went to the gym tonight, did 1hr bodypump class (and I do load up the weights), and then jumped on the treadmill. I know the treadmill is easier than cross country, but I did 30 minutes, 5 minutes walk at 6km/h then 12 minutes at 8km/h (about a mile), then back to 6.5km/h for the remaining 13 minutes. That was a doddle! So I'll go outside tomorrow.
Following advise, slow run for as long as I can and build up.
Thanks guys, what I didn't say was I attempted a 10K with friends last sunday, they talked me into it, it took me a ridiculous 1hr 15 minutes, and left me in tears. It was boiling hot and uphill all the way! Portsoy in scotland if anyone knows it. Really stupid of me! So, going at it sensibly now.
All your reports on here are so exciting, can't wait to improve, but will take it sensibly.0 -
Hi BJ. Welcome to the thread. Go on, go outside - you know you want to! Seriously, running indoors just doesn't compare. Outside is great, there is an ever-changing view, obstacles to negotiate, differences in terrain underfoot, a lovely breeze, even rain sometimes. Take it easy and don't try to do too much too soon. Just enjoy yourself and feel your fitness build up.
Don't beat yourself up about the 10k. Maybe you just weren't quite ready for it. Having said that, you averaged about 12-min miles, which is no disgrace and a pace that many of us started out at. Stick with it, and you will definitely improve for your next 10k.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Helloooo Mrs Chickadee - whatever could the 'more interesting activities' have been I wonder. Well it seems to ahve perked up your running anyway!;)
Simply - A small fee is all that is required to waive away copyright infringement. Usually a 99p McFlurry does the trick!:p
Evab - Best of luck with the 8 miler. You know the drill, as slow as possible when attempting a new distance and you should be fine!:D
Bank_Of_Slate - Solid 5 miler there and, as Becky pointed out, the times dont matter, just run to a consistent effort level.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Evening Rich, your running is fantastic at the moment. Quite a few 5:16 averages in there I see. Amazing, as ever!
What happened last week? There are more rest days in there than you usually take, was it just the unbearably hot weather or have you been injured? And how are you feeling about Sunday - you certainly seem to be in shape for it anyway. Oh, questions, questions. I'm sad I know, but I have missed the threadSealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Its all going fine - its just about mid-way through the long marathon build up and there has just been a period of two races per week pretty much every week. So last week was just a little pause to gather everything together ready for the big push - all the key sessions were still in there, just the steady miles stripped out.
But this week is going to include 4 speed sessions (of which 2 are races) so needed a breather in advance!:D
Sunday will be okay - probably about 1:03, but that will be fine as it will be comfortably the best 10 miles so far if that is the case.
So how come getting married makes you faster? It might be worth a go if it works!!!:p:pGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j
