  • watch dog did phone me about this, and I did give them all the info I could and my partners name and number to speak to him for more details, but they never phoned him or me back.

I hope they all get banged up. They are a set of threatening knobs

  • Looks like I have been ripped off also, still in early stages of speaking to autobahn. But now knowing they used to be A38 and the post on here I'm not holding my breath.

I purchased the car from them 3 weeks ago. Last week having had a good look at the paper work they are 3 things to mention 1 of which can be prosecuted by law.

    1. The year of reg advertised was 2007, its actually 2006.
    2. Service History is not full as advertised.
    3. Mileage has been clocked.......... Only one VOSA document was presented, I sourced the rest of the MOT's from directgov. Its in black and white.:mad::mad::mad:

    I'll keep everyone posted.

Looks like we have been led a merry dance also. I did lots of internet searches before travelling over a hundred miles to buy a car off these people. Husband wanted a specific make and model hence travelling. Before we bought the car service was good.
On the day we arrived car looked as described with exception of year advertised as 05 infact was 55, mileage advertised as 90k but had done 86k so these we felt were a bonus. Husband test drove all seemed well.
Problems started when we went to pay we didn't haggle with the price and paid in cash, we were assured they had completed a HPI check and it was clear. We then discovered only one key, log book present but no history or owners manual. There is a sat nav and trip computer but the remote to activate this is missing. Lance rang the toyota dealer where this car was a trade in to find they still had these items. Although dubious we niavely agreed these would be posted the following week (wish we had known about these reviews before).
That was the 19/2/11, we have made numerous calls and emails we have been told Lance not it, items posted, item lost in post, item returned to Derby sorting office, item in my hand will post again tomorrow but we have received nothing. We have been in touch with consumer direct and they have referred us to trading standards, after discovering this thread we have also written to watchdog.
As there was no history we wrote to the previous owners of the car and kindly they have sent us copies of some services which is showing an error with the mileage so we are now thinking has this car been clocked :(. I am now too nervous but feel we need to do our own HPI.
So it looks as though this company is still trading as before, maybe this thread should have autobahn of derby in the title now so it comes up on a google search?

Mmmmm, A38 Cars Direct, enough said !!
My condolences to you all that have had the misfortune of dealing with them !
I also purchased a Black BMW X5 from them at the end of 2009 and I wish I'd read about them first !
I knew there were a few minor errors with the car when I first visited it, so I was assured that they would be sorted by
the time I came a week later. However, I travelled 70 miles back to the site a week later and they said they couldn't see
me until last thing that day. No wonder, because they'd only fixed one of the errors and then they told me that they had
to rush me through, as they were closing for the day and I had 70 miles to drive back home. They told me that they would sort
any issues out, or compensate me. I sent numerous e/mails ref the problems and called many times and got little response.
about 1 week after buying the vehicle I started getting engine problems and I was looking at hundreds of pounds to get it sorted.
It goes without saying to all of you that have had dealings with them, nothing was ever sorted. I just hope future buyers see the
many comments about them before thinking of purchasing a vehicle from them !!!

  • I have been stung by this company too, promises to rectify things were not kept, replies were non-existent. I am compiling a case againt A38 Autos / Autobahn (same people) Please let me have any feedback/testimonials. I'm sure that there are many of you disatisfied customers out there. Let's stand together.
Please, there's nothing to be gained by keeping silent.
  • Thank you to those that have supplied me with the problems in their dealings with Autobahn Derby, formerly known as A38 Direct.
They had every opportunity to deal with my problems but failed to do so.

BE VERY WEARY BEFORE BUYING CARS FROM THEM,

Just to say thanks all for this info. I was looking into possibly buying a car from these people, and now I know to avoid them!

    Thanks again
  • I Drove past Autobahn, of Ascot Drive this morning and it's vanished. No doubt another new name change will be occuring. As soon as anyone know's it can we re post it so that we can help new buyers from getting burn't !!

2 years later........... they are still conning people and living comfortably. - Why on Earth can they not be stopped.

As for Watchdog, I was told there weren't enough people complaining !!!
