  • All of you possibly won't be suprised to Learn that Dealer Direct "no longer exist" or they do but they are now trading under the name Spectrum Motors !!! in Mansfield.

So I would warn anyone who buys any car from Spectrum Motors to read through ALL these comments and then visit the Review centre.com and search for Dealer Direct. If you still purchase a car from these "Dodgy rip off merchants" then more fool you !!

You can clarify any of these details with Nottinghamshire Trading Standards !!
  • Hi, my boyfriend also bought a car from A38 Direct Cars about 11 months ago. It broke down yesterday but it's still within the warranty. We couldn't find the warranty details anywhere so we tried to call A38 Direct Cars but the number doesn't work. I've scoured the internet for hours and found many phone numbers and company names associated with them but no numbers work.

Does anyone know the company that deals with the warranties or of a phone number for A38 Direct Cars that works?

    Thanks

Hi, I don't have any helpfull news. I don't know who there warranty was with so can be of no hope there, hopefully someone else will be able to give you that. A38 No longer exist so legally you don't stand anywhere with that company anymore.

I would go to consumer direct and see what there advice would be but to be fair there are so many people with so many bad stories I wouldn't think you would get anywhere and that it will end up coming out of your pocket.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but as a customer of A38 it's all we get. Really hope sooner or Later Trading Standards / Police can do something about these people!:(
  • Just read about some problems people have had with A38 Direct Cars now known as Autobahn Derby.
I purchased a car which was advertised on Autotrader as a '54' plate and is an '04' with 60k miles but is actually 68k miles.
I was told that the car would be ready to drive away as I was travelling up from London. When I got there I found that the car had no front seat, there was no road tax, the car had private plates on it which had been transferred to a Mazda car (found out by HPI) and they were prepared to let me drive away with the incorrect plates. I also pointed out that the front tyres looked low but the salesman replied that there was at least 6 months left. The tyres were 0.3mm within the legal limit which I replaced 3 days later.
I did manage to knock some money off and completed the purchase.
I bought the vehicle from them on the 15th Oct 10 and am still waiting for the log book which they said would be sent out in 7 days.

Last week the police turned up on my doorstep while I was at work with regards to my car. Two officers came back that evening requesting a statement and wanting to seize the vehicle, luckily I had left the car at work because it was still not taxed as I did not have the log book. The police returned to my place of work the following day but I had seeked legal advice and told them they could not seize the vehicle without a magistrates warrant or an order and requested what legal grounds they had to seize the car.

The car was not stolen, I was a legitimate bonafide purchaser and there were no issues with title when I bought the car. Apparently the previous owner from Norfolk traded the car in against a Mazda from Autobahn. The Mazda has turned out to be stolen and has been seized by the police. The police are trying to say that my car was obtained by deceipt by the garage.

I sent a letter by recorded delivery to the garage last week with my issues and I have today received the letter back from the post office as 'refused'.
  • now trading as autobahn. sold me a stolen car they bought from auction, police involved all the way. they had indemnity policy to cover this sort of loss, police informed me they have claimed but won't return my money despite countless calls and letters. trading standards involved as before i found out it was stolen, a long story, they sold the car advertised as a 2008 but turned out to be a 2006 car, called after 2 days of owning car but refused to give refund. been battling with them for 2 months and now passing it onto a debt collector agency.
autobahn are the latest new name for their list of renamed garages - a38 direct cars
    -dealer direct cars
    - spectrum motors
police aware of this and want everyone to report to watchdog.
is everyone aware that the ever changing garage name is an umberella group name trading under the main company J H CARS. deal with the boss there direct and screw him over.
  • This is not the first time that they have done the above. Reading and speaking to other people.

Watchdog has been contacted by me and others. And hopefully they can pull some strings to sort this out.

Trading standards are involved but can do very little against a limited company that keeps closing.

I would also advise anyone with a big issue with any of the previous garages to go down to the new site and Im sure you will see the same old people that you had delt with previously.

    Dont give up anyone.
