Quentin,
Thanks. The requirement to pay BT's line rental is not apparent on Virgin's website (poor show on their behalf for not making it clear and mine for missing it!) and that important omission makes their deal no better than the others, apart from the download limit. However 5Gb is more than sufficient for me at present, so there's no meaningful advantage in me switching.
The renewal deal was that I got the same deal as a new customer by effectively becoming a new customer again, i.e. I can leave MAAF subject to the exit charges, hence my point about being sorted until September (exit fees would make switching non-viable). At least MAAF were prepared to do a deal rather than lose a customer.
Samara,
Thanks also. I am aware of the problems with usage policies and that the ISP has sole discretion on what constitutes 'fair use' and I agree with your sentiment. It comes back to the comment in my original post as to how hard it is to compare the various service offers in the market at present.
As ever I keep these things under constant review!0 -
Hi Ageoldtraveller,
I'm afriad that I don't know too much about how Primus handle cancellations. I would recommend giving them a call to let them know that you're leaving and see what they advise.
Please keep me posted with what they advise!
Kind regards,

I certainly won't be staying with Madasafish. I cancelled my Talk landline and went back to BT on the 9th February and they are still charging me line rental. Can't understand why anyone want's to stay with them at their prices as the service is no better than any others?
Got just 1 week left to go on bb and counting!0 -
And now Maaf (or should that be naaf) are saying because I did not telephone them to cancel the Talk landline they are not going to give me a refund(something BT will do automatically). I cannot think why people on MSE think they are so 'great'. They are overpriced and about as flexible as a house brick.
Good ridence to them on the 15th!0 -
Samara,
Can you give me the phone number of who I need to talk to about my BB contract. It has just come to the end of its 1st year, and whilst I have been pleased with the service that I have received, I feel that the price of £17.99 a month for just 2gb is way too much. I have been looking round at other providers and they seem to be offering some very competative packages0 -

Say no more. Shop around and get a 'much' better deal if I was you?0 -

How about PMing Samara and giving your maaf details. You might get an offer you like.0 -

Hi sloughflint
Not happy with maaf at all. The Talk landline was the last straw as far as I'm concerned. I have been charged an extra month because I did not ring them to let them know I was going back to BT. They never make anything clear but are so quick with their stock reply of 'in our t&c's etc'. When I changed to maaf I didn't have to call P.O. phone to let them know I was leaving, it was just done automatically. When changing elec/gas I didn't have to let the previous supplier I was changing, it was done automatically!
I will take great pleasure in calling them this week thou to cancel this over-priced bb.
Yes sky @£5/mth is a bargain for me.0 -
Hi Patcat,
I've got your PM and will review everything fully on Monday morning.
Cheghead - we've still got a bit of a learning curve with offering the telephone package (and cancellations). I will investigate on Monday any charges against your account and see what I can do.
Kind regards,
