i have no loyalty to any company, and quickly vote with my wallet when faced by poor CS.

i'm sure samara will be on with an alternative

  • okay then madasafish technical department are arranging for a supervisor to call me to discuss why me speed is so rubbish (should be getting 4meg but never got above 2 meg). Has anyone had any experience with this? How long did it take for them to call? what did they do?
I'm happy with the phone service but the net has not been good, purely for the slow speeds.
I'm saving up for the cancellation costs but still want at least some of the service i was sorta promised at the start.

I recently signed up for Broadband and Talk with MAAF via a referral - when I signed up I input the referral code but at no time during the transfer process has the referral been mentioned

I raised a ticket to ask if the referral is being processed (I am aware it can take a few months before I receive the credits) but it seems the people who receive these tickets have no concept of basic English and seem unable to answer my question of "did you receive the referral details when I signed up" (the first reply was regarding broadband upgrades and the second got my name wrong).

Anyone else experienced problems with referrals?

I'm regretting signing up to MAAF now given all my recent experiences with them

Hopefully Samara might be able to answer this question (along with "where is my router???")
  • I am looking for the cheapest broadband package with free router, but am not sure if I am on contract with Madasafish. How do I find out? I would prefer broadband, but don't want to end up paying 2 ISPs.

Enter your phone number and post code in the Samknows' Broadband Availability Checker:

    - If it says Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area
then you don't have a broadband connection on your line

    - If it says Congratulations, you are in a broadband enabled area.
However, there is another service on your phone line (e.g. ADSL, LLU, DACS, etc) that would prevent you from ordering a new ADSL connection.
then you already have broadband (or, much less likely, a DACS unit on your line)

While you're there, make a note of what it says under 'The following services are available in your location' and make a new post in the Find the cheapest broadband discussion thread containing the following info:
    - LLU services available to you (i.e., O2 / Be LLU, Sky Broadband / Easynet LLU, and so on)
    - max monthly amount you're looking to pay
    - approximate bandwidth usage per month if you know this (e.g. 3GB, 5GB, 10GB, etc.) or, if you're not sure about how much you use, just state your typical internet usage (i.e., whether you do a lot of downloading and video watching online or just stick to surfing, emailing and downloading the odd song from iTunes).

That way we'll be able to help you better. :)
The true cost of something is what you give up to get it.

  • Hi Badger89,

Could you please PM me your madasafish username too? I'd be more than happy to have a look at the stats on your account.

I have written a bit of a guide to maximising 8Mb speeds. If you could please have a look through it - things that would seem quite insignificant can have a major bearing on the speeds that you get. For example not connecting from the master socket or not having a microfilter fitted to ever phone socket that's in use.

Also - one thing that should also be in that guide (which cropped up later) is that some security software has 'anti-phishing' built in which seems to interfere with speeds. McAfee seems to be particularly bad in this area. If you do have an anti-phishing feature enabled you should be able to disable it. Just please keep in mind what phishing is - it's pretty easy to avoid suspicious looking emails and such ;) .

    Kind regards,
    Samara

  • Hi Frugallass,

I'll have a chase of that router this morning.

With the referral code - it should appear as a pending credit in your account. However at the moment we're in the process of merging all of our customer records over to a new system. If someone on the old system made the recommendation than the credit will not appear until they are moved to the new system. We anticipate for all of our customers to be on the new system within the next few weeks.

If anyone is concerned that a credit isn't showing up properly in their account this is probably what's happening - please feel free to PM me with the referral code that you used and I'll be more than happy to confirm.

    Kind regards,
    Samara
