Nidhi, thanks again for your help. When i apply to change my phone line to your company, how long should it take, from applying online, to the switchover? Is it worth applying for broadband at the same time,as it takes a bit longer i would assume? And how can i be helped with advice as to each step as i really am a complete novice!!( I will keep my dial up till then) Do i need this MAC code they talk about? even with dial up?
Thanks

Hi Margaret,
You'll first have to change your billing package with BT before you can transfer your line over to us. You won't be able to transfer the line to us nor will you be able to get a broadband service until the light user scheme is removed. Once your billing package is changed you can sign up for our line rental and broadband service at the same time. Alternatively, while your billing package is being changed with BT, you can sign up for our dial up service. Once the low user scheme is removed, you can first get your line transferred to us and then move the dial up to our broadband service.
You won't need a MAC since you are currently on dial up and don't have an existing broadband service.
Kind regards

I will do what you recommend, and contact BT to get the light user scheme removed, but i don't want to tell them i am moving altogether!Would it be wise to wait until i get it confirmed in writing that i am back on a normal tariff,i just worry about the constant changes.0

Hi Margaret,
You don't have to tell BT that you want to move altogther. Once you receive confirmation of your normal billing from BT, you can then sign up for our talk and broadband service. We'll contact BT to request the transfer of your line rental over to us.
Hope this helps
Kind regards

Hi,
I am with MADASAFISH for about a month. My speed has ranged from 400Mbps to 1.6Mbps.
Here are the speeds
1.32Mbps 23/04/2007 20:11:31
1.27Mbps 23/04/2007 20:00:14
0.4Mbps 22/04/2007 23:36:06
0.45Mbps 21/04/2007 20:46:19
0.42Mbps 21/04/2007 16:07:33
0.42Mbps 20/04/2007 09:55:10
0.42Mbps 19/04/2007 13:14:41
0.82Mbps 18/04/2007 14:09:08
0.82Mbps 18/04/2007 06:30:09
0.81Mbps 17/04/2007 21:42:33
BT website says
Your exchange is ADSL enabled, and our initial test on your line indicates that your line should be able to have an ADSL broadband service that provides a line rate up to 2Mbps.Our test also indicates that your line should be able to support a potential ADSL Max broadband line rate of 2Mbps or greater.
What is the likely reason of this fuluctuation from 420Mbps to 1600 Mbps? I have swapped the Microfilter with no change.

Hi Thanks,
I'm happy to look at your stats from our side to see if I can pinpoint any anomoly.
In the meantime could you please ensure the following:
1. A microfilter is fitted into every phone socket that is in use.
2. You're not using any long telephone extension cables in conjunction with the router?
3. That you're connecting the router off of the master socket?
When you PM me along with your username could you please also include your Operating System, the router model that you're using and the connection method (Ethernet, USB or Wireless).
If you are using the USB connection could you switch to the Ethernet connection?
Also I wrote a guide to speeds up to 8Mb and how to maximise them, it's pretty light reading and located here. If you could please just have a quick glance through that information you may find something with the way your hardware is set up that you can tweak to get better speeds.
Thanks!

Hi Samara,
Thanks for your reply. But if there is some fault, I would expect a low speed but a fluctuating speed, I can't understand and that too such a big difference. Now the speed is 1.76Mbps ! So it goes from 400Mbps to 1760 Mbps. What is your opinion?
Thanks0
