Need Help! Council had a "tip off" i am living at my girlfriends

Posts: 10 Forumite
Hi
My GF lives alone with our son and claims DSS, income support and child support etc...
Someone has told the council that i have been living there - which isnt true!!
She was invited to JOBCENTRE for an interview - she has been given 2 options...
1. Admit to it - and loose future income support allowance etc
2. I have to get my parents to confirm i live at my parents
NOW, I cant do the second thing - as my parents dont see eye to eye and i dont wsnt to drag them to JOBCENTRE for this - we have a few family issues going on - and i dont want to do this...
What can we do?
I dont really want to do the first option - for her to admit it cos its not fair on her....
What rights do i have??
Can i say that someone is lying and this isnt true?
She has been pressured into it by the man at the JOBCENTRE - to go with the 1st optin??
We are NOT fraudstres and benefit theives??
How can we go about this?
Thanks

Get your parents to go and tell them. It will take less than an hour and i'm sure they wouldn't mind, I am sure no one in the world is petty enough to let their child and grandchild suffer for the sake of an hour or so.
Or you could always move in with your girlfriend and look after your child like a decent person. Sorry, you can call me old fashioned (I'm only 25 but what the hell).0 -
I'm afraid you're going to have to get your parents to provide proof that you are in fact living at their address and not your girlfriends ... providing it is factual of course.I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!I thunk I've made you think for a minute!:j :rotfl: :j0

i have never understood how someone can live apart from their girlfriend and son, and the girlfriend cliam as a single parent.0

Arent YOU a fraudster and a troll..?0

I can't understand why they are hassling your girlfriend like this, your story sounds entirely plausible to me.0

You really should be able to provide proof on your own:
registered address with your employer;
address on your credit card bills;
electoral role;
council tax?
If you don't see eye to eye with your parents and have family issues going on, how can you live with them?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Surely they have to provide proof that you are living there, which if you aren't they won't be able to provide.Sealed pot challenge - £400 no.4910

Whoa whoa people??
Whats with the judging - i only asked you for information on the situation - NOT to get invloved in my personal affairs...
Have you guys not got anything better to say?
But just to answer you people - i WAS renting with my GF 2 years ago but we werent really getting on and had a split period where we seperated - we have recently (6 months or so) been getting on again....
I dont understand why this has happend - i have not lived with her...
I would have though they would compile an investigation - where they gather evidence - camera footage... had they have done this - they would know that i have not been living with her....
The issue im faced with is my parents dont really get on with her and are stubborn - but apart from that - there is stuff going on within family - which prevents me from going down that route....
Worst comes to worst - then ill have to pretty much force my parents to do this - BUT im simply trying to investigate other avenues as to how i can go about doing this??
If any??0 -

Silvercar has made some good suggestions. Try providing proof as they have suggested and if that doesn't work, then you know you have to try your last option ... asking your parents.I can say whatever I like here ...
